Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
i talked to n2c about those settings in 5060, and he said in 6.1 beams do not affect it as much, but I turned them off anyway, so we will see what happens.
Reflashing doesn't help. I've done it about 9 times. Since you aren't exactly putting a new item, it's just a fresh copy of the same thing. as for PRL, I am on 60610, but again, I live in a 1X only area, and my signal is always 5-6 bars, so it's not as if it's grasping for life, so I doubt it is, since I had 60610 on my previous versions, and my battery life was fine. |

The thing about the PRL is, unless you are on a woefully outdated one, updating it won't do a whole lot for you.

not necessarily true. if nothing has changed in your area, it won't make a difference, but if you live in an area that has seen new towers, etc, then you should probably update. since there isn't really a 100% accurate way to check this, better just to update, UNLESS you have issues (see: Freezing) with it, in which class you should flash to the previous one.

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
YEAH, I installed that crap for a day, as well as a coworker, and both out batteries drained like there was a hole in them. It was rediculous, he has a gsm tilt, and I have a cdma vogue, so we are running completely different hardware and software, and spb mobile shell 2 killed us both I use 1.0.0 and I have no problems with it, it's not as cool as 2 but just as functional

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
I think the battery killer is the new radio, in particular the evdo. Let me explain what leads me to this. . .
I have a 6800 (obviously) on Bell and have mostly followed dcd roms as they have come out. With this last one I noticed a serious battery drop, and I base that on my use of the phone for sirius radio. I stream sirius radio over the evdo network to some stereo bluetooth speakers to listen to stern. I do this fairly regularly, and since I have had this phone can get a good solid 4 hours, usually a bit more, before the battery is beeping at me and soon to die. Ever since the upgrade to the 3.35 radio, regardless of the rom, the time I can stream sirius over the evdo is barely 2 hours. One nite for an experiment I took my phone out of hybrid and forced it to 1X. I was back up to almost 4 hours. Let it go back to evdo, drains so fast you can almost watch it. Because this was also killing me for when I am travelling, just using the phone to get email and make calls, (no stern even) I decided to drop back to the dcd 2.3.2 rom and the 3.27 radio I was running before. I can see that the phone runs slower from a gui perspective, but, you guessed it, I am back to streaming my howard stern over evdo to the bluetooth speakers for 4+ hours. Sorry for the long post, just thought I would share this for those of us wondering if they have gone crazy or was that battery draining quicker. I have seen it first hand, and if I remove 3.35 radio, the quick drain has stopped. |

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
I'll second that post... I don't have any scientific data but I do notice the battery going down VERY fast whenever I'm doing Data heavy tasks like steaming video, radio, etc. It's almost like you can watch the battery gauge dropping in real time.... I mean, shorter battery life is probably expected with heavy data use but perhaps not to this extent.
Whenever I do normal non-Data intensive stuff, the battery life seems normal. |

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
Battery life on 5060 seems to be much better than on the 5059. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
I have noticed this, but it is still not as good as dcd's 2.3.2
Using the old radio (3.27) and dcd's rom, I could easily get 2-3 days of moderate use out of my phone. With the new radio and roms (doesn't matter which one) I get a day, with the same type of useage and same programs. One thing I have noticed is that my evdo connection will not stay off. If I turn it off using conn manager it will restart itself within a minute or next time I turn on the phone (this is without any programs running, including activesync) I am going to see if this is also the case with standard rom, with no programs installed. |

Re: 3.35 Battery Killer. More like slaughterer.
I have just reflashed using the standard update from HTC. My EVDO is not auto connecting anymore which tells me something is messed up with the last couple roms I've tried (nex mutant, dcd 3.0.1, no2chem 5059, cooked 5060 rom) or one of the apps I had installed/registry tweaks. I believe every one of those roms did the same thing though.
I will keep the standard rom on with a minimal amount of apps for a week so as to test the battery life with the standard rom. If it seems to be good (2-3 days per charge like dcd's 2.3.2 rom) then I will try out some custom roms and see if I cant pinpoint the problem. By the way, I never use HTChome, or any weird dialers, and rarely use gps, so I doubt those are the problem. |
