Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
Did you read this post yet?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17032 There are some edits you may have to do to get everything working. For me all I needed to do was set Location On in the phone settings. I did load up QuickGPS too, it does seem to help with the initial lock speed, at least in my area. |

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
OK, I followed the directions to the letter, didn't let the Sprint customizations run and I can't make calls. A verizon message says it can't authenticate my phone. What do I do???

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
I called, but it wasn't easy. For some reason the guy I got would not give me a new A-Key. He went through every imaginable tech support thing. Finally he got it working though. I'm all set. Thanks all, this site is outstanding!

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
Ok, read through the instructions, but I have one question. Do I need to also update the radio to 3.x.x? My new Verizon xv6800 is currently running radio version 1.30.60. I'm a noob to this xv6800.
Thanks, Dave |

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
I think I'm confused. The instructions say to install the Sprint ROM. Does that include the required gps radio in the Sprint ROM? Can I reflash with new Sprint ROM and not use a custom ROM? Sorry for the stupid questions.
Thanks, Dave |

Quote:
you MUST upgrade to the newer Sprint radio before you try a custom ROM.. but the radio itself it what will give you GPS - but you must also Flash a new rom. you can't JUST upgrade the radio. you must do both. does that make more sense ?

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
Nickles,
Thanks, that totally makes sense now. I guess I was just a little confused on the use of the terms "ROM" and "radio". I thought those were two separate files. Wasn't sure the instructions reference to the "Sprint ROM" included the upgrade radio. Just a quick question. Does flashing the new Sprint radio with DCD's Rom 3.1.2 provide Rev A support too? Based on all the reading this is what I am assuming to be the case. Thanks everyone for answering my questions so quickly. I'll let you know how my first flash goes. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks, Dave |
