Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
i figured it out : ) I guess i just had to rerun the bootloader then the new flash. So gps and all works. One more question if you could. Switching to the sprint rom doesnt screw with my verizon signal or charges it just switches the roms..right? My dad was freaking out about it lol saying I would be on the sprint signal/towers and stuff.

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
sorry, like i said i'm new to all of this. What does the sprint radio mean? Is that saying i'm using the sprint towers? It's not going to cost me anything more is it?

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
Just about to bite the bullet and flash the Sprint ROM. I was trying to test the entering boot loader process (camera button + power button + reset). Can this be done prior to running the unlocker (olipro). I just tried it and all it seemed to do was a soft reset. Wasn't sure if it needed to be a timing thing (all at the same time or hold cam+power then press reset...). Really paranoid I guess? Just don't want to overlook something that seems trivial in the directions and then it has some quirky way to do it. Thanks

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
Thank you to everyone who has posted to this forum. I upgraded my radio this morning and everything is up and running now. Man that is scary the first time you do it. Did hit a snag and got stuck in the bootloader screen, fortunatley I was able to get out of that with the titan_exitbl.exe program. The call to Verizon to get the phone re-authorized was a bit funny. I swear the tech was messing with me.... acting really confused how such a thing could happen. He acted like this is very unusal for this phone. In fact I did a hard reset before upgrading to the Sprint ROM and I could not dial out afterward because of the authentication msg. so I decided to wait and make just one call after it was all said and done.
Google maps works great with GPS. Haven't tested the DL speed but it does seem faster. Good luck to anyone upgrading their phone. It is a bit nerve racking so read as much as you can and learn from the mistakes of others. |

you wont need to call VZW again.. only the first time with the new radio..... subsequent ROM flashes will just require you to *228 and re-authenticate right over the air..

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM
After dragging my feet for months on this I finally took the plunge and used these instructions to flask my phone during my lunch break. A bit nerve racking as you watch the phone reboot a few times, but if you just let it go everything works out.
I did lose authentication and had to call, but they took care of it remotely. Based on some of what they said I am curious if your location when you flash has anything to do with it. They asked several times where I was now vs where I first activated the phone. No matter, it worked great and I got my official threaded SMS. Have not tried GPS yet, but everything seems good. Thanks for posting these instructions |
