Re: An Easy Guide to Upgrading
If you give us more details on where it's failing and what's happening, we might be able to help you. Did you disable USB in ActiveSync?
Edit: sorry, this link is for the Verizon ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1&postcount=13 Last edited by Geckotek; 03-06-2008 at 11:54 AM. |

Read every stickied post. Read more. Read even more. Download all files you need to upgrade. Read some more. Download all the files you need in case of failure. Read some more. THEN, start thinking about upgrading. The thing about this process is that it's very hard to "brick" your phone. Once you realize how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together, you'll be flashing and flashing and flashing some more. But just like learning to be a Dr. or and accountant (ok...maybe a bit of an extreme example) you must study the process a bit and be aware of the pitfalls and how to dig yourself out if something doesn't go perfectly. No single guide has all the answers and this why you need to read as much as possible. |

edit: Further, you apparently have a Touch (dmckenzey Pocket PC: Touch by HTC); notice, at the top of the screen, where it says PPCGeeks > Pocket PC Phones > HTC Titan > Upgrades; you are in the Titan forum. Titan upgrades will not work on the Touch. Last edited by bakntyme; 03-06-2008 at 02:29 PM. |

Re: An Easy Guide to Upgrading
Today I made my very first flash ever! I am no running No2Chem's 5051 ROM and it is awesome.
As others have said, you need to read a LOT before attempting anything. I spent all of yesterday learning everything I could about the process and gathering files. Even still, I ran into a few issues, but I didn't panic because I kinda expected them. Ultimately, I think this guide is the best and most up-to-date out there, but it alone is still not enough. Before you start doing anything, you need to read every step of this guide carefully and search for anything that doesn't make sense before attempting a flash. Once you have a very clear idea of how the process works, then you may start going through the steps for real. |

Re: An Easy Guide to Upgrading
If we followed the steps on the first page (which worked great) and with the anticipated release of an offical rom coming up, what steps do we need to take to prepare our phone for that? I guess I'm wondering on relocking, radio versions, order of steps etc.

If you cannot recover using that information, try posting the bootloader version showing on your bootloader (big color bands) screen, as well as the ROM and radio versions that show on the bottom of the screen as it starts to boot up (a D number and an R number). Just writing those numbers down and looking at them might show you what needs to be done. If you followed the steps on the first post in this thread, you can probably just do that again replacing the reference to "Unofficial carrier released rom 3.16" with "Official carrier released rom 3.35.651.2" or whatever the ROM ID is.
