hey my gmail is not updating on its own though, i need to manually refresh to get new mail and i just confirmed it with a pm to myself. is there a setting im not seeing cause i never had this issue?

When there's nothing to complain about we use mindless chatter to keep the thread fresh. lol

Did you check under settings/accounts and sync to make sure sync was turned on?
