Re: A challenge to all gurus: Help me keep my phone!
Uh....so.....how DO I perform a registry hack?
Such as this for example: Quote:
This is what I see: Classes Identifiers Files associations Home (My Device) PCMICIA Drivers RAS Book Softwares - device settings Softwares - user settings TCP/IP Hosts Today items So, how do I navigate to find the right string of values to screw up? - Chris |

Its a tree view.
So navigate where you need to go. For example, if you were going to turn off the keyboard autopopup, you would go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, expand it, go to ControlPanel, expand it, then click on Sip. THen you would modify the appropriate value in there. Shorthand would be HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip Setting: TurnOffAutoDeploy Value: 1 |

There, see how easy that was? The problem I was not finding the menu option in the editor for seeing the numbers. I was only seeing the folders. But how about this one? I don't see any folder with HKLM. I do find HKEY but not HKLM. I also find SYSTEM as well as GWE under HKEY .... but then no cyHScr = 9 And then as far as the altered settings go, is the #9 in this string: Quote:

Re: A challenge to all gurus: Help me keep my phone!
I am CONTINUALLY amazed at the amount of assistance that users in this forum provide to each other daily! Kudos to all!!! . . . And certainly not to knock you CMass, but a little searching goes a LONG way to finding solutions. It's forum rule #1. . . . Indeed, nothing is perfect about this device. But there are so many resources already posted that this entire thread is a repeat of several repeats.
I read this entire thread with curiosity to see how long it would take before someone got flamed (as it does happen regularly in this world!)! But, thankfully, it has not happened. Through 8-pages of back and forth, people have contributed and helped out. To that end Cmass, I believe it was already stated, you may just want to get another device or go back to your old one if it's this much trouble to find satisfaction using the Omnia. I wish you the best.

Re: A challenge to all gurus: Help me keep my phone!
Cmas,
the GPS is the real thing - satellites positioning. I read about it on Samung-omina.org. Sorry don't have time to post the article link. Also you are correct about the bars in the Samung today screen. Earlier last year someone asked what the cross heirs where and it is the GPS connection indicator.
