Re: Any hope of GPS unlock for Verizon Omnia?
Looks like somehow fooling around with the "External GPS" settings messed up the ability of Garmin Mobile XT and Google Maps to find the internal GPS; I restored an earlier backup and things work fine now.

Re: Any hope of GPS unlock for Verizon Omnia?
I just did the firmware update last night using what theidoctor had posted on piratebay and it worked great!!
GPS worked right out of the box. I didn't even have to change the com settings. I just left it as automatic. it takes a minute to lock on but it works great with Google maps. I did notice that the device gets pretty warm when using GPS for a prolonged time. I like some of the other little extras and changes that were made. dice game pre-setting screen and quick settings screen weatherbug is nice too. |

Re: Any hope of GPS unlock for Verizon Omnia?
How fast are some of you getting a gps lock? With the xv6900 I get lock in about 11-15 seconds even on bad weather days. Would hate to switch and have to wait 1 or 2 minutes.
Please let me know. |

For me it just depends on the day...some days it's fast and others it seems to take 5-10 min. Especially when you need it like now!

Mine used to take a long time as well, but after I installed GPSGate, I get a lock very fast on all GPS apps I have tried.

How fast is fast? In sec (about 30 sec) or minutes

With GPS Gate you can leave it connected so when you want to use Google Maps or Live Search you can get a lock in seconds. I can usually get a lock in 1 to 3 secs
