Im not a noob and have been around the custom roms alot, I respect the cooks and they did great things to our tp1, but dont tell me you will flash aa custom rom and have everything in working order like the official one......
Once again, I concur lol.. I tried a lot of ROM's. Mighty's was the closest I could find that was stable and looked as close to stock as possible. But even with his (like all the others I tried), anomalies would show up, the overall phone performance would slow down after a few weeks of use and next thing you know I'm doing another hard reset. I think a lot of that had to do with the pre-release builds of Windows Mobile they were all using, and AFAIK they all warn you about this before you make the decision to flash.

Having said that, if the TP2 stock ROM didn't prove itself to be so speedy out of the box, I would probably be flashing myself. However, with a few minor tweaks and regedits, all the problems I have on the stock ROM make it perfect.

I do find the prospect of 6.5.1 interesting and the new TF3D looks like it's off the hook, so that would definitely sway my decision to flash a cooked ROM.

Yea, Ive literally tried them all and read on the ones i didnt try, hence the reason i didnt try em...... I agree also it was the builds, but im not only talking about 6.5, most of the 6.1 roms also have wierd things going on, i mean, what ya expect for a 2 week only been working on rom compaired to MS who work on it for a while... Official 6.1 was slow but didnt have wierd issues, custom 6.1s were fast but always had something wierd like the screen wouldnt rotate right, the task manager would dissapear, soft keys wouldnt work, jumbled dialer etc......... Been there and done that for 6 months with my pro 1 and my wifes Diamond...

then i also hated how a fix some how magically made a new problem, Its like were always going in circles....

Once again, everyone has there choice, this just happens to be mine, Im staying stock untill I feel like dealing with fixes and stuff..........Not saying i wont eventually do it custom, but thats not my intention...

Im not the only one that knows along with Most (99% ive tried and read on) custom roms their is also alot of headaches in the fixes.... Once again I couldnt do better and the fixes are always fast, but then when ya get it like ya want and all fixed up, then there is a new release and ya gotta start all over on the fixes etc...... I know your a VIP and know alot, but this is something I dont know where your coming from, fixing and all that may be fun to you, but I dont want to fix nothing................ Im waiting for the official 6.5 for now, but may end up going custom and rolling with the fixes like everyone else...

young_breedent, how about this, find a thread on a rom that no one in there complains about some wierd issues! Then Maybe ill give ya the credit of trying to say most roms dont need fixes.........
I never said most of the custom roms don't need fixes. I agreed that some do, i also said that i have tried some that didn't. Secondly, there are people asking for fixes now with the stock rom so don't act as if asking for fixes are just associated with custom roms. Some people just like stuff a certain way and that way might not be stock. Another thing, some chefs take stock roms add a few registry edits such disabling the text notfications, enabling stealth tethering, and adding no2chem battery drivers and release them as a custom rom. Explain to me how that rom would have any more problems then a stock rom??? It wouldn't lol it's the same as you having a stock rom and making those changes yourself, only difference is you didn't have to make the changes. Most of the problems people have are with changing TF3d icons, clocks, taskbars, and so on. Some people are so quick to flash a custom rom that they don't even know how the stock roms work, and would be suprised that some of these so called issues even occur in stock roms. Another problem people have are wanting the latest everything that hasn't been ported correctly which has many bugs.

i don't prefer this. As i stated earlier i like barebone roms (meaning even less stuff then the stock roms) with just performance enhancements and i can install my own programs as i wish. I don't have a problem that you like stock. Good for you. But for a noob reading your comments they might be under the impression that all custom roms are full of problems and that just simply isn't true. I'm in the process of learning how to cook roms and when i do so i would love for you to try them out and give me some feed back. Me being a VIP honestly means nothing to me. i would be saying this same thing if i was a noob, and honestly when i first joined this site i just read information and didn't post much so i know the status you are could be misleading. I hope you don't take offense to my post because that was not my intention. Hope this clears some of that up

I agree 95%, we could go on for a while, but Im really not in the Mood, No offence tooken on your post except this is just My Opinion, MOST CUSTOM ROMS are more of a headache than anything..... Im just not ready to search for the ones that dont have the headache, ya feel me????? And yes stock needs fixes too, but for me not because something wasnt working but more from annoyances like the stupid safety notification when ya first install a third party app or the sms sent message or how to get the old style start menu back, not from stuff magicallt not working (not saying that dont happen on stock cause it does) Im just saying majority.....

Anyways, great day and peace...... You have your opinion and I have mine.......

I would definantly try a rom ya made if it was GSM.....

Re: Countdown until WM 6.5 is Official....4 days

well i am getting more and more stoked for both 6.5 and the progress on the cdma hspl. first i wanna get to know 6.5 stock, but like Young_breedent has said i really want a stripped down custom rom, bare bones, added performance tweaks and such, ready for me to add what I want to it. I personally feel thats what makes it custom. otherwise you are taking somebody elses version of what they like and using/altering for you, which can lead head aches. i haven't tried any custom roms yet, had a tp1 for a week and wanted to punch it with itself cuz it was slower than a blind lassy(on verizon mind you). i am so glad i did return it cuz now i got a speedy tp2 thats hungry for some roms. i did read a lot when i had the tp1, almost flashed to some scotts stuff at the time, but just couldn't deal with its lacking performance. i have continued to read more and more in prepartion for some flashing. i really don't want headaches, this is my phone that i use daily, so gotta be reliable, at the same time i live to customize, everything...

Young_breedent, i look forward to what you are gonna cook up, sounds like we enjoy the same kind of custom roms. i'll keep an eye out for ya

theres really not other than cosmetics, different ways to get into programs, different interface. things of that sort. But I prefer it over 6.1 cause its prettier...

I found it!

Here's the article regarding Microsoft announcing that they've signed Sprint up for the synchronized launch on Oct 6th.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/16/a...aunches-on-oc/

I hope it's true!
