GErvy
My 6700 appeared to have water damage last week. I took it to local sprint store and they replaced it with a 6700. Got home and tried using keyboard and the right side of keyboard was broken. Took it back to sprint store and they gave me another one. Got back to work and the data port was broken. Called sprint and asked the tech if I would get another refurbed 6700. He said I could get a 6700 or the Mogul. Of course I took the mogul. This was last Wednesday, received my Mogul yesterday. Did not have to deal with insurance (Asurion) and did not have to cough up any money. The last 6700 I received was my 4th in 3 months.

I guess what they say is true. Be nice to reps and sometimes they will take care of you.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

I took my phone in today, but no dice. Got a refurb 6700. This is probably my 5th or 6th one in the last two years. I asked the guy about it and said I didn't want a refurb for that reason, but still negatory.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

I'm gonna get mine real soon when I renew. I have four 6700's and am gonna sell a few so I'm not pushing them anymore. Just gonna renew and get the phone.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

My 6700 is also dying- since it's getting to the point that it's unusable, I called today and I'm getting a refurb 6700 next week. I can't ***** yet, but if this one isn't 100%, I'm going to campaign hard for getting a 6800 to replace it. Unless I have a Diamond or TouchPro by then.
The good news is that I didn't have to pay the $50 deductible, so no harm no foul. I flashed back to the OEM WM5 and will keep it simple until I get the new device.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

I went in to 3 different sprint stores to try and get my 6700 replaced because some of my keys stopped working and some of my texts never get to their destinations and all they kept trying to offer me was a Touch and I was like are you serious. The rep told me that anywhere i could all they could offer me is a touch because according to them, its the the 6700 closest equivalent. Any truth to this anyone?

The reason why they would only give you that is because it's 100 cheaper than a titan.

Of course they said that- ask them if it has WiFi or a keyboard like your Apache? Or even what it's designation is- the next device that replaced the 6700 is the 6800/Mogul/Titan.
But like PDAPhoneJunkie said, the Touch is cheaper right now. And they probably have more of them in stock.

It looks like the only way to get a 6800 as a replacement (without pitching a fit, pleading in way that gets a rep to help or knowing somebody who will bend the rules for you) is to have multiple replacements and use that to increase your chances of having your requests for an upgrade granted.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

That makes sense, and they did have tons and tons of 6900s in store. I guess im going to have to start hissy fits with Sprint, because I have no time to waste with replacements.
