Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

Yeah when I filed online on the 7th or 8th, they sent me a BNIB 6700 but it had some vibe issues so i called asurion and told them about it. When I told them I had the same issues from the last unit I got from them as well as the unit I got from VZW they offered me a choice between the Treo 700 or 6800 and so I chose the 68.

It came last Friday and was also BNIB with factory seals.

Unfortunatly I got screwed by my company's good will. I transfered my phone to their account for them to pay for it, and in doing so it renewed my contract. So I can't pull that card for now.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

When my 6700 crapped out I got 2 different refurb 6700's that didn't work right from asurian, then I told the rep is there anyway I can get a new phone instead, and got the 6800 new. Now the face buttons don't work right. Only the d pad works. However if I try to hard reset, it works. I don't get it.

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

Keep in mind that just because things are new doesnt mean they work right or forever. I once had a car brand new that stayed in and out of the shop for two months geting bugs fixed. Electronics are funny things and doesnt take much to crap them out.

Very cool.... I just called Asurion and sweet-talked them into sending me a 6800.
Pays to get a southern-woman on the phone, and then kill her with kindness.

That's what I did two replacments ago. But then I asked if it ould be a replacment or BNITB? She called customer service and some man got on line and found some 6700s I was SO mad. I got my replacment yesterday and it has a defective screen! When you hit the bottom taskbar is goes purple and fuzzy. I called tech support they said they'll over night me another one. The online tracking says it's in the area. But I tried to get them to gimme a 6800 and they say they can't cause I didn't buy the phone from them and they shouldn't have ever sent replacments but since they have they'll keep doing it. We're planning on renewing soon so I'm gonna take em up on their offer for a BNITB with new two year contract.

OK--- I give up. What's BNITB?
Slap myself. Googled.
Brand new in the box, right?

So for those that take it into a VZW store to swap, did you reflash back to the VZW stock ROM?

Re: 6700 ---> 6800 via insurance swap?

My 6700 died last week, had it for 27months. Phone was crap until the first WM6 rom. Finished with running WM6.1 , much better. It amazes me some of the people in these forums saying "I preferred to flash back to WM5..." You're kidding me right? Thats like saying "I prefer to run my engine on sugar instead of oil"

Anyways, I took it into the local corporate repair center, in Orange CA, a few miles from Disneyland and Angel Stadium. They determined it was fried, and said Id get the 6800 as a replacement since the 6700 isnt made anymore. Only catch was that I had to wait over the weekend till tuesday for the phone to ship. I went to vegas last weekend anyways, so it wasnt exactly necessary to have a phone at all. Well, got the 6800, and its such a better phone, its night and day. Faster, lighter, thinner... Im just thrilled with it. I want the raphael, but this phone will hold me over for a while. I tried getting a 6800 via ashurion for months, but everytime I called back, they had 6700s in stock. I guess the deal is, goto the corporate repair center, they dont keep much in stock. All the people at the repair center were top notch, knowledgable and very friendly. It was a great experience. Im stoked too because the 6800 works with my BT gps handsfree, the 6700 didnt. Now I can talk and drive w/o wearing anything, very liberating.
