Anyone somewhat regretting the TP2 after seeing the HTC Evo 4G?

Yes, TP2 is getting more obsolete everyday, but for right now it does what needs to be done. I do wish for faster cpu and ram so it can play video more smoothly as well as a 4.3 in screen but it's ok for now. And it fixes the GPS problem I have compared to my old TP1

No and for the simple reason that I have to get out of the $30 SERO plan. The EVO seems a great phone with great features. But soon enough, there will be another phone beating the EVO for features. Then what? Right now, I spend less than $80 (inclusive of all taxes and fees) per month for 2 phones that have unlimited data/web/texting. If I have to go to EVO, I would be paying $80 + tax & fees for 1 phone. The TP2 has the same resolution as the EVO, though smaller in size. I already have many WM apps that I paid for. I am in no mood to let them go. I love the TP2 physical keyboard, though the camera on the TP2 sucks.

I hardly watch YouTube and I don't think web browsing on a 800x480 screen is any fun. I can always wait and go home and browse the web on my 28" screen & another 24" screen pivoted. For my needs, the TP2 will do fine.

For those willing to pay more for a phone, may you have all the fun you need with the EVO.

Can it run WinMo 6.5.3 and switch back to android? Does it have a physical keyboard? When HTC releases a more modern version of the TP2 I might consider retiring mine....but it better be good.

Really I think HTC should just update the hardware in the TP2 and re-release it, its by far the best handset I've ever carried. The processor is a little dated now but I dont think we'll see this kind of flexibility for a long time.

My job uses Windows and Outlook (as many companies do) and there is no substitute for WinMo's seamless integration. iPhony owners need apps for that, hell they cant even put mp3's on those things without proprietary software and cables, android's a good second but there's still windows integration issues. I just want plug and play. I dont want to tell it to do anything, it should just update all my appointments for me on ONE calendar, update my tasks and contacts, and do when I just plug it in, with a USB cable thats more common than pre-sliced bread.

I was offered a Crackberry by my employer (fully paid for - it is the corporate standard unfortunately) and I declined. I watch guys with 6 digit incomes struggle everyday because they have issues with their berries, they have to carry a separate usb dongle for their laptops so they can have their 3G wherever they go, and when it doesn’t work I just launch my WiFi Router and offer them a connection as they ask, "is that an iPhone?", then I slide the keyboard out, tilt the screen up and say, "yup" then the 2 guys with iPhones in the room quickly slide them into their pockets.

There are far more practical uses in the business world for WinMo and the TP2 than I think most people consider. Probably more than most members of this forum realize. With that said I graciously thank every developer involved in this forum and XDA for making this device the most powerful business/entertainment tool I've ever come across (oh yeah and I guess you can use it as a phone too). The endless FREE applications, ROM's, software, customizations and SUPPORT, that these guys offer is priceless.

With the android port getting closer everyday and the fresh release of MaxSense (which I think proves there’s a lot that can be done to improve the software/hardware relationship because it is FAST, later releases I’m sure will be less buggy) not to mention Max Manila & CHT. I think it proves that these developers are determined to prove to the rest of the world that our devices are still a force to be reckoned with. Sure other devices may be faster and do "this" or do "that" but overall this phone "does" everything I NEED it to, and it does it with style!

So in short, (in a very long post) the Evo can suck it.

I just renewed my contract with the TP2, 3 weeks before the Evo's launch date.
I've decided in order to be kind to my wallet it PAYS to stay a year behind the technology. Sprint gave me the TP2 for $150 AND a $10 credit to my account for 2 years. As a premium member if I keep the TP2 for a year, my out of pocket expense was $30.

Next year the Evo will sell for less than $199. Additionally many of the bugs and customizations will be resolved by it's users' I've hated all HTC phones out of the box.
The touch wasn't great until the Musicman changed the Cube. The TP2's home screen wasn't the greatest until Cookie Monster's home screen editor was developed. Htc doesn't make great phones, it's users do.

The ONLY thing I will miss by not getting the Evo now is an enjoyably fast web experience. I doubt WM will ever in my lifetime get Web browsing up to par with the iphone. So my next phone will probably be an Android phone. In the meantime I will enjoy my TP2 to the max with NO regrets.

finally someone that knows what their talking about, this is why i deal with winmo, i loved my TP 1 (only got rid of it because it started restarting itself), just got my TP2 and can already tell we're going to have a great relationship

if it does not have a qwerty keyboard dont even show me the phone, i'll be waiting for the TP3

not at all. I got my tp2 the day it released. Evo seems to be a great phone but I need my keyboard and I will not leave my grandfather plan for any phone, period.
I pay 40 dollars a month for 500 anytime, unlm text web data incoming calls and insurance, and my any 3. with the use of my gv number I essentially have an unlimited plan for 40 dollars a month. I wont change plans for the evo
