Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

Ok I just went to the roof of a 25 story building in Brooklyn Heights (one of the taller bldgs here) and got 9 sats in less than a minute. Looks like I'm good. I'm even locking by my office window with 5 sats although I think that may be a cache. Thanks everyone.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

For what it is worth here's what I have running. I suspect it was just the Valhalla mode that made a difference

HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 0
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 0
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode = 0
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress = C3CF657E
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort = 7788

Thanks again

Actually I guess you do need to do the PDEAddress and PDEPort registry changes - my data was restored after I revised those (though I think the data originally did work for a while)

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

Another update on my experience. After a soft reset and getting home I have been unable to get a lock. It worked on my office roof on the 25th floor in Brooklyn but I'm unable to get a lock at my apartment in Manhattan. I tried on the 10th floor roof deck (surrounded by much taller buildings) with no luck. If I need that much clear sky this will never be reliable. I tried Google Maps and Live Search. I've seen people use some kind of GPS viewer to prime the GPS before and wondered if this might help. I don't know what a good app to prime is though. Any suggestions? Does the HTC GPS tool work for this? I have a feeling this might be the final straw after almost 10 years with Verizon. It shouldn't be this hard just to have basic funtionality from my PPC. Funny thing is I am an RF Engineer who has done a lot of work with VZW over the years. Kind of wish I had been involved with AGPS and E911 instead of EVDO so I really knew what was at work here.

The one I really like is called "GPS Toogle". But I just use it to turn gps on/off. Not sure if it will improve the start up performance.

If you don't get a lock for a long time, try to soft reset the phone. Hope this helps.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

I'm not sure what registry changes you made but I did some playing in HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\ that caused me to lose GPS again. Not sure what did it but even returning the settings to default did nothing to help. So for the 15th time I had to do a hard reset and change gps mode for the valhalla key only.

After that I install Baf's GPS Toggle and HTC GPS Tool. I used the cold start option in the GPS tool to get my first lock. I don't know if it made any difference but my GPS is working again.

Test AGPS Recently?

Verizon reported a nationwide data outage at 4:30 est today that lasted about an hour. Don't know if they were doing any emergency/scheduled maintenance that affects AGPS but it might be worth a try to see if they have it working again.

Sorry guys, I can't check this out for myself because I have no time for hard resets tonight.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

I've got: xv6900, wm6.1 with customizations, google maps, valhalla
Thought there may be some value in consolidating some of the info I've found in this thread and xda
For Valhalla
From Jacob623 post edit the registry and change the following 3 entries:
* \HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress = C3CF657E (REG_DWORD Hex)
-this translates to: 3285149054 (REG_DWORD Decimal)
-fyi C3CF657E entered as decimal will change to 1 in registry GPS worked
* \HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort = 7788 (REG_DWORD Decimal)
* \HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode = 0
I make the registry changes wait 20-30 seconds for the changes to be stored power off remove battery for 20-30 seconds restart. First lock does seem to take 2 - 3 minutes
