Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

Hmmm... Very interesting post/link...

Just found this too: According to a post over a ppchaven, Verizon has supposedly not changed anything on their network.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

I finally got mine working again, but not agps. Not until I made the changes did google maps and garmin find and lock on satellites. Here's what I did: I went into the registry and made the follow changes: HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 0 and HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 1. And with the changes I getting lots of satellites and fast.

Yup, as stated somewhere else this turns off aGPS and runs in standalone which is where we may be for a while.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

OK, I just confirmed this works. Locks take about 30 seconds but it works!

This is a procedure from xda thanks to zanymonster

1) if you haven't already, you need to flash your phone to MR1 or MR2 official release. You can find the MR1 for 6900 herehttp://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downl...zon%20Wireless

2) install Valhalla .cab file for gpsserver (attached)

3) edit the registry and change the following 3 entries:

* \KHLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress = C3CF657E (REG_DWORD Hex)

* \HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort = 7788 (REG_DWORD Decimal)

* \HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode = 0

Reboot. You must do a soft reset before this will work. Get ready for slower locks and less accuracy, but it does work, and it is good enough for turn by turn in Live Search.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

Great work Fredcatsmommy. I tried some of the earlier edits. I got the GPS to work outside only and real slow. I had to prime with HTC GPS Tool. Now it is not needed. "HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 1" is the tool that did the trick.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

A friend of mine at VZW in data tech told me they were not aware of any network changes or anything that would affect the aGPS. Other phones running VZNAV are working.

Well i just did a *228 option 1 a little while ago (I naively thought Verizon would patch me up) and now my GPS is completely dead. So something has changed. The crazy part is that I wouldn't mind paying an extra $10 per month for GPS.

I've been with Verizon for about a dozen years but I've really just about had it with their "stick it to the customer" business plan.

xv6900 wm6.1 with customizations, valhalla, google maps
I tried the edits. HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 0 and HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 1 - Using Total Commander (first time reg edit) Didn't work what could I have done wrong?

I have Verizon XV6900 MR1 with customization, Valhalla. I have tried many different options but the only one very effective for me is:

HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode=0, then soft reset.

This one disables the AGPS mode to use the GPS standalone mode. The lock is not as fast as agps but still locks in 2 min in cold start in open ground. The satellite number is not as many either, but still OK to get Google Maps and iGuidance working.

You also don't need a data plan to use this mode! I've been searching for a solution for this for quite a while.

Thanks Thenikonian for the great tips!

I configured the edits from Fredcatsmommy couldn't get lock not sure why. I tried to reverse the edits. HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 0 back to 2 and HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 1 back to 0 (Couldn't remember what the original registry numbers were if anyone knows that I would like to know)
Then I tried stevens tip and changed HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode=0, (from2) then soft reset
GPS works; at my desk-inside-4 sats All is happy in the world again
