Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

denasqu - I don't wanna sound too newbie, but where did you get a username and password from VZW? I've had VZW for years, and the only thing I have is a password to converse with customer service, but no username. I have not signed up for MyVerizon (or whatever it is) on vzw.com.

Thanks!

I first tested the Telus settings with QPST and it didn't work out, plus I started getting date connection PPP errors. So I changed the PositionCalculation to PDE (from "Mobile") with QPST and it's all good. I did have to enter my username and password for the data connection though. Not sure what that was about it and I'm not sure that they were in there before, but data is fine now.

To summarize:
I'm using a custom ROM, no Valhalla, Bell 3.42.50 radio.

I re-ran the QPST fix with these settings:
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE

I brought the registry in line with these settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"ServerIP"="216.198.139.92"
"ServerPort"=8889
"GPSMode"=4
"EnablePDEIPFromNV"=1
"EnableAGPS"=1
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=1
Thanks that restored aGPS for me. Is this the telus pde server?

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

well the verizon ip

Verizon:
PDE IP Address: 66.174.95.132
PDE Port number: 8888
PDE Transport: IP
Position Calculation: Mobile

seemed to work for about 6-8 hours then mine went blank.

RD

Edit

I followed Humpas Valhalla edit and used another server that I know is dedicated to agps (sshhh) and its back up right after the soft boot.
Now other than doing a packet capture and figuring out what the packets are do we have a way to "verify" AGPS is enabled properly on the device?

I would hate to be out in the boon docks and call 911 only to tell them I'm off somewhere next to a cliff with 1 hump...

Although I have garmin that prolly won't be a problem, but you see the point.

Excellent thread people..!

Apparently that's a yes. From ip-lookup.net

IP :216.198.139.92
Host :mpclm.eng.telusmobility.com
Country :Canada

Hopefully someone will come up with the Verizon server. I get a sense of satisfaction taking service from Verizon, but I feel kinda' dirty taking services from Telus. Telus never did anything to me.

VisualGPS has a very detailed log but I can't make heads or tails of it. Maybe someone else can?

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

I'm using one of NFSFAN's ROMs on my XV6900 and I also have had issues with GPS not working for a week. Decided to come here and check it out, much to my surprise it does appear that Verizon is locking us out somehow.

However, I loaded up QPST and changed my aGPS info to match the Telus server info previously posted. Worked like a charm for me and now aGPS is working perfectly again. I'm getting 3-5 second locks again with 8-11 sats. That's what I like to see. Thanks all.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore

FYI I took this info.

Verizon:
PDE IP Address: 66.174.95.132
PDE Port number: 8888
PDE Transport: IP
Position Calculation: Mobile

Converted IP to decimal with this site
http://www.kloth.net/services/iplocate.php

GPS just locked 10 sec 8 sats
