I asked a similar question earlier on in this thread. So far the answer has been no. Too bad. This would be a great feature for some of us that routinely go to areas with little or no coverage.

Re: Force Roam in new Sprint ROM

this works for sure... I am running the stock rom and can data and voice roam....

first install cab...makes all the changes..wait a couple of minutes .. then soft reset. then call sprint and tell them that you need an update...Its some some sort of roam authorization file.. they change something on their end.. and you receive this auth file...after you talk to tech support they will ask you to call back with *2 the reproggraming begins it prompts you to soft reset.. then phone acts weird for about five minutes... ....since this I have not had any issues with roaming data or otherwise...

I did post this some where else but nobody searches anymore...

ps I did not right this cab... but thanks to whoever did

after doing both these things everythings cool man cool..

Re: Force Roam in new Sprint ROM

Excuse me for being noob. But what's the reason to force roam? Is it because some ppl have Verizon carrier and they flashed a Sprint rom onto it?

Actually I want to do the exact opposite. I have Sprint, but I'm afraid that if I have active data connection and the phone cuts into Roaming (I awlays roam in Home Depot), I will get hit with a roaming fee. Is there a way to disable roaming altogether?

Sometimes you might be in a fringe area,..... where your phone will switch back and forth between sprint and non sprint towers.. or you don't have any sprint service near your.. but there is service.. this eliminates the phone need to search for sprint.. and locks you on to anothers carrier.. usually verizon..

and if you have sprint.. there is no extra charge for roaming so.. might as well make your phone work...thats what its for..

hope this helps...

Re: Force Roam in new Sprint ROM

OK, I have the problem most have been experiencing. I am with Sprint, WM6.1, PRL 60613, trying to get voice/data roaming in Wash DC subway tunnels (Verizon territory).
Sprint has NO signal inside the metro tunnels whatsoever.
The phone does switch to roaming, I can see the triangle and the 1x symbols coming up (Verizon does not do EVDO). But there is no communication at all, voice nor data. No internet, no text messages, no voice (getting the infamous msg from Verizon, phone not authorized).
I had PRL 60613, but still called Sprint to make sure the update was registered on their side, reloaded 60613... nothing. Downgraded to PRL 60610... nothing.
The interesting part is, when I'm at home (Alexandria, VA), both data/voice roaming work. But I commute to work everyday, so I get on the metro on my way to MD via DC. Roaming has the problems described in those areas. Perhaps at home my roaming is being picked from non-Verizon towers.
Anyway, in researching i found that requesting Sprint to perform a "HLR reload" has been reported to fix the issue for many. I did so tonight. I don't know what the outcome will be until tomorrow morning when I get on the metro again.
I will report the outcome some time from work. Wish me luck.

PS-while doing the PRL updates using EPST Config, I discovered my phone didn't have Rev A enabled... made the change and now, while in Sprint network, speed has increased considerably... at least something good came out of this already!

How do you determine if Rev A is enabled or not.

"A confusing issue with the new ROM is the Rev. A toggle. Some users on other forums are suggesting that the Rev. A toggle in the EPST settings should be changed to "Enabled" after flashing the ROM. However, this will actually disable Rev. A.

If you access the Data Parameters screen of the EPST settings after flashing the new ROM, you will notice that the Rev. A toggle settings are actually labeled "Enable" and "Disable", not "Enabled" and "Disabled". The labels are not a description of the toggle status, but are the action performed by activating the toggle. In other words, when it says "Disable", it is enabled, and if you activate the toggle, you will "Disable" Rev. A.

Very confusing, eh? That also explains why the ROM shipped with "Disable" in the label, as Rev. A is enabled by default, and activating the toggle will "Disable" it.

Bottom line: If you want Rev. A enabled, your EPST settings should show "Disable". If you do not know what EPST settings are, or how to access them, no worries; the ROM is shipped with Rev. A enabled, and there is no need to make any change there. "

(So I won't take credit for this, but Thanks are always nice!)

Edit:
If you want to test that this actually works, do a speed test on your phone before and after the change. My speeds went from the 100's to 700's kbps. It could be better, but still an improvement.

Re: Force Roam in new Sprint ROM

Confirmed!!!
HLR reload worked. Now I am able to voice/data roam in the Wash DC metro tunnels (red line).
So I can state that you should be able to roam using WM 6.1 with PRL 60613. No need to downgrade to 60610. I would even recommend to everybody to stay current on your PRLs. Just make sure when you call Sprint to also reload your HLR.
When you do so, remember to let them know what zip-codes you mostly roam in.
Hope this helps.
