There is already a post about it from 4 days ago "People Charging $75.00 To Upgrade To The Leak Rom?". Catch my sarcasm?

Re: scammer on craigslist
BMW Dealer charges $50 for an oil change. ($20 worth of parts if I bought them)
Jiffy Lube charges $30 for the same car, same parts Local lube shop has a coupon and I can get it for $15. Should the local shop start a thread about how the Dealer and JiffyLube should be taught a lesson? It's America. Lot's of people died, so that JiffyLube and the Dealer can rip you off, or, you can choose to go elsewhere. That's why this guy can charge $75 for a service fee. Someone else can charge $20, and someone can do it for free. And as far as the 15min time frame is concerned. That's BS. Anyone who has ever flashed someone else's phone, knows it won't be done in 15mins. Sure, the initial flash is done, but you don't just unlock, flash, hard-reset, and here you go, talk you later, don't come back. You walk them through stuff, you set stuff, you make sure it's working. Once you get your own phone setup w/ user customizations, sure, 15mins is reasonable. But no way you're flashing a noob's phone, especially one that's paying, and you're done in 15mins.

Re: scammer on craigslist
I'm not on the side of the person who made the listing, however, saying that it's stealing is assuming that he is using a Rom from one of the chef's out there. But, what if he is using one of the OEM (leaked more than likely) Roms? Now this ROM is not his (or hers) to sell, however it is (as far as I can tell) free to distribute. So if the person is charging $75 for the "service" of flashing, to each his \ her own. If someone is gonna pay for it, are they really wrong to charge that much?
However, if the person is using one of the Roms made on this forum, that's different. They should be giving credit where credit is due. The person who made the Rom should get some kick back at the very least. Just my $.02 -s

Re: scammer on craigslist
I can see both sides of this.
As long as he is up front, lets the customer know that the software he is using is free, and anyone can get it. And that it could void the warranty, also informs them they are strictly paying for the labor, I have no problems with this. There are plenty of people that wouldn't consider trying to do these modifications themselves. I charge $85 per hour to do in-home PC repairs, etc with a 1 hour minimum. There have been plenty of times where I did the job in 15-20 minutes, but I still take the $85. Problem is, he isn't up front in his advertisement that he's charging strictly for labor, and that the customer can get the software themselves if they wanted. |
