Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)

New here, but I thought I'd chime in on the whole good screen bad screen thing. I bought two Sprint Touch phones at the same time. One has a great screen, the other has the washed out, horrible viewing angle, wavy effect when pressed screen. I'm still within my 30 days so I've got a replacement on the way. Let's hope they've got the manufacturing process down and I just got one of the few bad ones left.

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)

i used to own a touch in may and i never noticed if it had a good or bad one to be honest. i just bought another that should be here and the seller says it's one of the bad screens. as long as it looks ok and works, im fine with this. i really don't see the need to spend $80 on a replacement when the phone itself isn't even worth that much anymore.

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)

After contacting my seller (bestbuy.com) I was shipped a replacement today. I can confirm that the replacement is also a sucky screen. Next stop, Best Buy brick and mortar. After that, I'm beating down the doors of an actual Sprint store. Since my wife got lucky with her Touch, I can show them what the screen should look like compared to my own and hopefully get a working replacement. Honestly, if it was jsut the washed out colors and the poor viewing angles, I think I'd be ok. But the fact that the screen gets all weird when I push on it even slightly scares the hell outta me. What happens when its in my back pocket and I sit down on it?

that's a steep price for a replacement screen IMO. i wonder if there are any just up for bidding? are you guys saying the phones screen is distorted and bluish or are you saying it's just hard to view at angles?

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)

I got my Touch over a year ago in Dec '07.

My friend got 3 Touches from Sprint (for $25) right before they ran out of stock.

I saw his and his screen is much nicer than mine
Mine looks fine, except it washes out badly at any angle.
Just this week I started noticing the rainbow under the screen protector.

Not sure if if it moisture under the protector or one of the digitizer or LCD substrates coming apart...

Really poor color representation (bluish and washed out), terrible image/color distortion when viewed at an angle, and when you press even moderately hard on the screen you get the wavy "should not be doing that" thing LCD screens do when pressed.

well its good to know, because I bought houch in 2008 oct and it has a good screen, and then I bought 1 more touch for tests onebay and it has an angle problem screen..I thought its just broke or something. The screenprotectors seems like helping a little with angle problem...Also noticed small differences in outter case...
