Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

from a cold boot, it can take up to 20 minutes for those "unlocked" satellites to finally lock... then they turn blue. Much too long. I want to see how well the astro program works now...

Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

The AstroLauncher is nothing more than a "priming tool" that opens the com ports for applications that can't do it on their own. It does not effect TimeToFirstFix (ttff).

I have yet to make a video of this for proof, but a couple of days ago, I took my Touch with the Alltell update and my Mogul with the OE gps update side-by-side, launched TomTom, and watched the satellite status screen.

With the two devices laying on my nightstand side-by side, after they both got a lock, they were showing pretty much identical data with a lock on the same number of satellites.

That said, I don't think one radio is going to make a bit of difference over the other!

I agree, plus going into ##33284#, i noticed that the 3.35 radio was pulling almost twice the amount of power that 3.37 was pulling. Im using ghettogreeryder v7 plus 3.37 radio and it is working great... it gets me a lock in google maps within 10-15 sec and the first time i did it i was ouside in my car and got it locked within 1 min so i am very satisfied with those results.

interesting find. Both radios are GPS ready, they say 3.35 is optimized for GPS usage, and through my testing, seems to be inaccurate

As you know I was having the very same problem. I now have it working within 5 sec regardless of the radio, indoors and out. I realize AstroGPSLauncher is only a primer but it is what is making everything work. It in combination with SK Tools Shotcut Manger will easily allow you to create one shortcut for any of your GPS apps, iGO in my case. All you do then is launch from that shortcut. There is no delay and doesn't have any footprint but works..... Check out the other thread and try the links.... Ionly need this now for iGO and thats only becuase very few apps use the new WM6 way of priming the gps. The new versions will work without it. iGO 2008 is suppossed to be one of those upgrades. I hope this helps because it worked for me...

I just found the original thread over at xda.... This is what I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364199

Give it a try.... Let me know if it worked for you..

This post has been thanked 1 times.

Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

I switched to 3.35 yesterday and was getting much lower upload speeds for Rev A vs 3.37. GPS was working better in my house, but now I'm getting no lock like I was with 3.37. I'm beginning to think 3.37 is the better of the two.
