Well it would sure be so easy to make an OEM of the files to have them placed in the correct directories, but seeing as how they are just simply files sitting on the device w/ no ties or associations to anything (nothing is actually installed), and it is updated roughly...once every 3 weeks or so, I'm not sure if this is the right path to take. If you were asking is it stable enough to make an android rom...not sure we yet know how.

I put 1.1 on and when I ran it. It will have a blank white screen kind of flashing.
Anyway to fix this? |

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!
You need to delete default.txt and change the default-vogue.txt to default.txt.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!
Hi Everyone!
I have been running the Android Port almost since the beginning and I have watched it grow in leaps and bounds. The easiest way I have seen to install Android with the least amount of errors is to go www.myhtcphone.com and download the windows installer program and also download the Android update zip file from DZO's website http://cs-alb-pc3.massey.ac.nz/vogue. Then launch the setup from windows to install the neccessary files, then activsync your phone to finish the Android port to your phone which will also install funambol to backup your contacts from your WinMo to their database. Next, unzip DZO's folder to your desktop and one by one replace the files from DZO's update to your phone using activsync. After everything is said and done, bootup Android using the new icon listed in your programs folder(Make to close activsync and unplug your usb cable from the phone). It may take a bit to load up the first time but after that, it loads up within 30 seconds usually. When loaded up, back out of the provisioning wizard and go to your applications slider menu and launch Togga app. For me and other users, I notice that you have to click the "Connect" button and wait for it to establish a connection then check status. Then from there, you have to hit the "Dis- Connect" button and then hit the "Check Status" button and finally hit the "Connect" once more to establish the internet fully(I dont know why it does it but it just does that way if you are having issues with internet connection). For Button layouts, the following goes -Power Button= Brings You to Desktop Home -Volume Up Button= Previous Screen -Volume Down Button= Menu Bar -Send Call Button= Brings Up Dialer Program -End Call Button= Either Ends Call or Puts Phone into Sleep Mode -D-Pad= Navigation -Center Button= Okay button -Camer Button= Activates Linux Keyboad, if double tapped, puts phone into Landscape mode Status of Working Features Display= Working with Touch but resolution changes when switching from QVGA to VGA emulation for Applications Buttons= Fully Operational Voice Calls= Fully Operational Data Connection= Fully Operational SMS= Fully Operational MMS= Not Implemented, shows up as Bad Encoding Message (DZO does not know how to implement MMS since his carrier does not support MMS) EMS= Not Implemented, shows up as Bad Encoding Message Bluetooth= No Drivers Implemented GPS= No Drivers Implemented Camera= Works but if app uses Camera function, comes up as garbage on the screen Graphics Acceleration= No Drivers Implemented (The presence of a dedicated graphics chip even on the HTC Vogue is highly debated at the moment so probably never on this device) Android Market Place= Most apps work except ones that require Camera, GPS, Accelerometer, Graphics Chip Acceleration or Paid Apps Headphones= Partially Working, sound quality can come and go USB Syncing= No Drivers Implemented MP3 and Video Playback= Both work as long as properly encoded and loaded on SD card prior to starting up Android (Please refrain from heavy usuage of data off the SD card due to issue with cards frying from overuse) Recommend MarketPlace Apps Chomp SMS- Great and colorful application for texting that has a on-screen keyboard Chrome- Another great app that enhances the built in browser with a onscreen keyboard Volume Control- Easy to use app to setup different audio profiles for alerts, notifications and ringer Pickup Lines- I Dont know, its fun to read the rediculous pickup lines and use them at the bar. So far with the use of a 128 different pickups lines, only one worked but I think the girl was too wasted to even care. Other than that, thats all I have at the moment. More may come to me but if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. P.S. If anybody knows how to write a .msi or .cab installer, that would be great. |
