haha... lemme guess.. they must be iPhone fanboys? Android will be the best operating system for mobile phones in 1 year... unless HTC decided to go with NVIDIA's processors, who knows what will come of operating systems then

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

Eh they aren't total fanboys, the one friend actually is into WM. But theyre just ignorant and I had an early build so they kept saying "it doesnt even work right" they didn't get that it was ported over from a different phone and how remarkable of a feat that is. I think this is one of the best things to happen to the vogue, it provides excitement and also some good functionallity.

I find that interesting because every WM user i've shown Android on my Vogue to, almost all of them sh¡t their pants just seeing how much faster the GUI is alone. Sure it can't compete with WM yet, but let's keep in mind that Android is probably a little over a year old, where as WM has been around since man invented the wheel, and they STILL can't get it right.

Eventhough Android kills my SD cards, I like it so much I just keep buying new ones! Hell, they're only 7.99 at the shack...

Youve also got to remember that since Android is new they can observe the mistakes that WM has made and go "hey uh we dont wanna screw that up" while WM has to support its current OS's and look ahead and try and fix stuff, so it takes longer. Also android got to see the iPhone and its success so they said "ya thats pretty cool, but lets throw some multitasking in their"

I have to agree that, would be pretty sweet.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

So has anyone else tried DZO's latest release? It's pretty sweet, everything works including all the google services and market. The screen is kind of smushed looking, but it's a small tradeoff for how much more his development has come. According to his post in the other place, he was working on this release more for kaiser users.

EDIT: after changing the screen size in the default.tvt, the screen now looks better. HIGHLY recommend trying this build. It simply blows the other ones out of the water. Keep in mind you'll lose the portrait keyboard.

No it's the 1.1 release from DZO. He went back to his old kernel, so no more cupcake. The only real difference between the kernels is the lack of a portrait keyboard. If you haven't tried the new version I suggest you do so. The following has changed from what I can remember and see:

The screen is now properly aligned for all apps

Android Marketplace works flawlessly

All downloaded apps that don't require the G-sensor work perfectly.

Calender works and syncs.

Google contacts syncs

Gmail works

Power conservation works (somewhat)

The screen resolution can now be user adjusted.

TRY IT NOW! This release is so good, i'm almost ready to stop using WM.
This post has been thanked 2 times.

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

I just tried 1.1, I can't boot past the black Android logo screen, it just cycles back to it.
