Your new wireless device is e9-1-1 and AGPS ready. For more information or to turn off AGPS visit www.bell.ca/e911.

"Assisted GPS technology Assisted GPS (AGPS) combines the reliability of multiple location technologies -- Global Positioning System (GPS), 1X network triangulation and cell site location-- so that Bell cell phones and wireless PDAs can be accurately located even in the most difficult environments.
In some cell phone user manuals, AGPS is referred to as the LOCATION option. With the exception of 911 services, your location will only be used at your request. Your user manual explains how to disable AGPS for all services but e9-1-1."

I tried Google Maps and it didn't seem to make a diff.

Neil
Neil, did you try sitting outside with GoogleMaps trying to locate satellites? When the Titan GPS rom was leaked, they had to stay outside for 5-10 minutes while it found the right satellites, and it worked normally after that.

Re: rev a and gps update maybe?

ok let me try to clarify something up here. If the bell touch had AGPS enabled for all applications, everyone would be ripping the roms. Secondly, the bell touch does have agps enable only for location purposes in regards to emergency location, meaning that that there hasnt been, (at least not yet) any development of any software which can utilize the e911 feature. The bell tech reps basically are speaking of the option to enable and disable agps from Settings>Phone>Services>Location Setting and thats it.

Ive tried using Google Maps numerous times, not only is it not able to provide any data of my gps location, it doesnt help with the My Location feature as well. So sorry to burst the bubble, but if my bell touch had gps, id b using it every single day, and gauranteed someone would have shared it with the rest of the community

=)

Re: rev a and gps update maybe?

All CDMA phones, for the most part, have e-911 GPS enabled. Two separate things when dealing with E-911 location and actual GPS

Someone on Bell wanna call tech support and figure out what that text message was referring to? Maybe it was a hoax.

Re: rev a and gps update maybe?

this is what i got from HTC

I understand your concern with a possible future update for the HTC touch relating to Rev A and possible GPS capability. Unfortunately we don’t have any information with regards to any future update for the HTC Touch. Logically we can make the assumption that the HTC Touch CPU is the same as the Mogul, but this simple fact does not guarantee that the Touch will have a similar update to the Mogul. At this point and time HTC Mogul Rev A is still being tested, we are gathering information on how well the ROM is working. Rom updates generally take 6-8 months to be released, check out our website every other month for update information.

Then why are you here? Why is your screen name htcphone?

I don't see how your post contributes to the discussion, please stay on topic.
