and per the examples above i dont know if it was promised or not promised but if its there, activate it. Its jsut a few dll files most likely the drivers to utilize the chipsets features. No reason to leave them off and let our directdraw performance be poor. Its not a little useless feature that can be said to be an oh well no big deal- directdraw effects a lot of the phones video performance.

we didnt pay for a $550 for a device which the video functions perform under par to their previous models. thats the whole point. if it didnt have the functions at all (like the older 6700) then GREAT it works right, cool no problems. Problem is you cant half a** it and leave it broken- either do it and make it work or dont at all. Halfway doesnt help anyone and leaves the phones performance lacking compared to those older models because they ran "more simple" yet correctly.
Amen brother!

I just hope that if they are able to squeze more performance out of the graphics, that they don't cause any other issue, especially power consuption. It's a big balancing act with performance and power consuption on these devices.

Oh, yeah...

...and HTC/Sprint should've included the BoxWave screen protector instead of that cheap crap.

...and the Seidio extended battery.

...and where the hell is my bluetooth headset? Why should I have to pay for it if the device has BT!

Come on people! Nobody forced you to buy an HTC product. And all this bi!c$ing and moaining is gonna do is drive the price of these products up as HTC has to spend money dealing with the griping.

It cracks me up when people post "why don't they just include the drivers". Anybody in business and/or the technology field will tell you that there's a cost associated with ANY development.

Now don't get me wrong - when they advertise GPS functionality and don't deliver, that's different. A company needs to deliver on things it promisses. But where did Sprint/HTC promise a certain graphics performance level?

And then there's the "lap dog" comments! Come on - get a life!

Give me a break! What, your display doesn't show the numbers you're dialing? Or is it your today screen that's not showing the start menu?

And when is the last time anyone bought a computer that was guaranteed to perform at a certain level regardless of what applications you're running on it?

I, for one, use Orb to stream video to my phone, and although this is not what I bought this phone for nor was I promissed I'd be able to, it works great.

C’mon - Some of you people are completely ignorant! I am a current user of the Sprint Touch and former owner of the xv6600. The xv6600 was enormous and had excellant video playback and was quite fast. I bought that device 4 years ago and now I go out and spend more money for a device that performs worse than technology of 4 years ago and I am supposed to be “OK” with that. Look - nobody cares if your a software developer or whatever, we - the vast majority - are simply unhappy paying good money for poor performance. It is not “OK” to put up with this nonsense and thank God that people are not! HTC should simply do the right thing. Consumers have been so used to getting screwed that comments like some of the above are simply outrageous. Can you imagine if the slaves just sat back and did nothing? I know - I know - but the reality is you wouldn’t be “OK” if you purchased a car that was the same 4 years later and have it go slower and the stereo was intermitant and video playback on the dvd player was screwed up. Consumers - roll your sleeves and don’t stop until we get some resolution!!!!

You know... At least these features are possible. Maybe our phones are "de-tuned" (to keep the car references rolling) But at least the phones may be a factory detuned R-34 Skyline that with a little work will double its horsepower and not a Nissan Sentra that has a perfomance celing that without alot of money and work will always be slow.

I just don't understand why there's so much more talk about the video performace rather than the SD bug (which was a promissed feature)...

Any why are the SlingBox people blaming the HTC device rather than demanding better software from SlingBox? My Orb streams withouth any hickups via TCPMP...
