Rom won't load/flash. - Page 3

Well, it says that because it is trying to use Agps and Agps requires data and you have that data blocking cab installed so you don't have data. You will have to go into the gps settings of google maps and set gps manually. You can't use the default option of "let windows manage gps." I think it is Com 0 or 4.

hmm. i said. "manage myself" and some reason, it says "calling 777". i just click cancel. is this normal? i just installed the no data cab too and it still says that.

It is still trying to connect to data.

You should be able to get a lock with Google maps but you will not see a map or any info other than a blue dot for your location if you do not allow it to connect a data connection.
On a side note:
Does it see any satalites?
Are your setting correct in QPST?
Are you registry setting correct for your carrier?

hmm. i should be able too. numerous resources are telling pdaj that it works.
a blue dot for my location thats fine, but i can't get directions to anywhere and it won't even show my location. even when i try tethering it to my computer. it just says "google maps followed by a 182-error, need data connection.
and how do i check satellites?
i know nfsfan's rom has a satellite viewer, but i'm trying to find a program in vin's rom, or a cab file.
and no i haven't tampered with registry settings, just with advanced config. with "aGPS-disabled"

I've done a little research and read through the other thread for PDAJ for the standalone GPS and have found nothing for google maps without AGPS because googlemaps is a internet based application. Here is what I have found:

Also look in your ROM for GPS viewer, Visual GPS or HTC GPS Tool to check and see if you are receiving a GPS signal. If you don't have one let me know and I'll either cab one or search one down.
As far as getting directions it needs a data connection, it won't use your computers internet because it is configured to use your phones data or wifi.

lol I don't know why I didn't think of this before but you can defintely get a gps lock and have gps track your movements without a data connection if you use standalone gps. The thing is any mapping software will have to have a data connection in order to download maps and directions unless you can find and use an app that stores map data on your device. So that is why you have to have a data connection for apps like google maps or bing.
