Rom won't load/flash.

hmm. i should be able too. numerous resources are telling pdaj that it works.
a blue dot for my location thats fine, but i can't get directions to anywhere and it won't even show my location. even when i try tethering it to my computer. it just says "google maps followed by a 182-error, need data connection.
and how do i check satellites?
i know nfsfan's rom has a satellite viewer, but i'm trying to find a program in vin's rom, or a cab file.
and no i haven't tampered with registry settings, just with advanced config. with "aGPS-disabled"

I've done a little research and read through the other thread for PDAJ for the standalone GPS and have found nothing for google maps without AGPS because googlemaps is a internet based application. Here is what I have found:

Also look in your ROM for GPS viewer, Visual GPS or HTC GPS Tool to check and see if you are receiving a GPS signal. If you don't have one let me know and I'll either cab one or search one down.
As far as getting directions it needs a data connection, it won't use your computers internet because it is configured to use your phones data or wifi.

hmm. okay, i tried the gps viewers... no luck. said, "could not open comport". but i followed all of pdaj's directions...
gentlemen, we seem to be in a predicament. my pr1 is 1.37_002, so thats not the issue. pdaj didn't really include things about how to use it...

Is the phone set to location on and not 911 only in the phone setting/options?
Are the GPS setting correct? programs = COM4, Hardware = GPS hardware port = None and access Manage GPS automatically = checked.
If the above are all correct you may need to start over.

lol I don't know why I didn't think of this before but you can defintely get a gps lock and have gps track your movements without a data connection if you use standalone gps. The thing is any mapping software will have to have a data connection in order to download maps and directions unless you can find and use an app that stores map data on your device. So that is why you have to have a data connection for apps like google maps or bing.

hmm. ty for telling me. i used to be able to somehow tether my phone via usb and get maps then... but then i forgot what happened. i probably reflashed the rom or moved onto a dif 6.5 rom.
