Has anyone else run into this... or even better... Have a fix?

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

Ok The flash went without a hitch on the replacement phone but I'm still unclear what the setting should be to use Google Maps. Currently under Settings/System/External GPS I have for Programs - GPS Program Port: Com4, Hardware - GPS hardware port : None Baud Rate 4800, Access - Manage GPS Automatically : checked.

In Google Maps I have for GPS Settings "Managed by Windows"

I know I've seen a setting for 911 only versus Location but I can't for the life of me remember where it is.

Go to your phone and hit MENU/OPTIONS/SERVICES TAB/Location Setting.

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

Thanks Steve. It looks like Google Maps is a least seeing that I have a GPS but no sats yet. I'm by a window in a high rise so I'll wait to get outside before I decide it's really not working.

Success! Once I was outside I locked up in just a few seconds and that is in Manhattan where there's not a lot of clear sky.

I'm reading stuff here that seem to contradict so I'd appreciate3 it if anyone could clarify:

If I have the stock rom and I upgrade to the leaked rom without letting the costumizations run (how do I do that? will I have an option during the installation process to not accept costumizations?) and then use the aGPS fix (with the valhalla thing and everything) will my gps then be enabled for usage with 3rd party nav apps?

I have read somewhere along this thread that additional rom flashes need to be done before the leaked version, in order to update the radio to be GPS enabled.
This doesn't make sense to me since the radio on the leaked version must be GPS enabled because the VZ navigator is included in it right?

my ultimate goal is to get the GPS working with 3rd party nav software by using original official verizon roms (leaked or not), I really don't care about anything else (I still want to be able to make calls though.. )

sorry if I misread anything , english isn't my first language and I had too much to drink last night

cheers
AMEN we are on the same page, just got the xv6900 a week ago and been swimming (or drowning) in info since!

Then you need to unlock you’re your phone with

And the you can flash to the Verizon Test Rom and DO NO LET CUSTOMIZATIONS

I’m sure this is the hard way but it worked for me.
So if I follow your instructions i will have WM6.1 with GPS?

thanks for the easy to follow instructions.

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

I have read through every page of this forum and some twice and feel I have learned some things. Nevertheless, Can anyone believe that I am still unsure about updating my Verizon xv6900 Rom? It seems around Pg 13,14 and 15 that things were coming together nicely and simplistically in regards to Rom update 6.1/GPS but after that things started to splinter. I am still hopeful and will declare my desires and possible/hopeful solution. PLEASE let me know whats what and THANKS for any help ahead of time...

My xv6900 is stock WM 6.0

I want:
WM6.1 [ I have downloaded from here- http://www.phonenews.com ] Verizon 3.14.605.1 Update

I want:
GPS to work with TomTom and Google maps

I think I follow this procedure:
1. Back up my info etc.
2. Install WM 6.1 Rom update.
3. Reactivate phone if necc. *228 Option 1, and * Option 2
4 Install Valhalla cab (I am guessing to the xv6900 My Documents)

The verdict please....(on those pages I mentioned this was supposed to be all that it took). The jury is out on this.....

PS some say stop customization some say don't during rom update-that drives me crazy. How does a tech moron like myself know what to do? and when do you do it? if thats the thing to do

Well from what I understand all you need to do (coming from the stock Rom) is just flash the new leaked rom ,LET the customizations run and then just use the aGPS fix located here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix

That should leave you with WM6.1 and GPS you can use with google maps etc..
