Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Sounds great -- couple quick questions.. What ROM are you using? And the file you're referring to is on Page 29 (post #290) PPST_Sprint.zip ?

I'm currently using a custom rom (v3.02 w/GPS) from the ppckitchen. And yes, PPST_Sprint.zip on p.29.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Seems not to have broken anything on my Bell Vogue.. and locked GPS within about 3 minutes indoors. Thanks for your help!

I'll have to run more tests tomorrow. Leaving work, it used to take about 1/2 way home before it would lock (~10-15 mins)!

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

I'm with Bell - I went through many (mis)adventures but in the end I just needed to run ppst.

So far it doesn't wipe out my akey on hard resets. Just the 1st time after the ppst load and menu-reset.

I bit the bullet and tried the ppst upgrade last night.

Setup:
- 2.31 unlocker
- Sprint leak 3.37.15 rom (no customizations)
- OMJ's Verizon OEM rom (there are a few items below I wouldn't have to do if I kept the sprint leak on it - so this step and the other noted wouldn't be necessary)
- Grabbed ppst...cab from my other Sprint Touch (I would have this by default if I kept the sprint leaked rom on my touch)
- ran ppst.cab and then the resulting ppst.exe
- pri flashed from 1.37_002 to 2.03...
- got preferred roaming and the roaming triangle
- couldn't make a call or data (which was expected)
- got the Sprint version of epst.epst and loaded on Verizon touch (I would have this by default if I kept the sprint leak)
- change epst.lnk to call #786 and ran it to get to reverse logistics screen (you can do this another way by getting ghetto's epst.cab file or by simply leaving the sprint 3.37.15 rom on your touch from early on in the steps)
- performed menu:reset
- Verizon Wireless came back as my provider but couldn't make calls (a key) or data (ppp error 11).
- called Verizon. They did 3 important things to get my voice and data back up:
- Reset my a-key (#2539 and they reset it on their end)
- Completely removed my data profile from their system and re-added it.
- dialed *228 option 1, *228 option 2, *22890, *22899 (90 may be redundant because it's basically *228 opt 1 - 99 is different because it specifically reloads the data provisioning)
- phone and data now work fine.
- had to re-setup gpsmode=4 and location=on and gps settings in system.

So the big question..... does gps work better?

Not sure yet, but I don't think it made much difference. I'm going to test over the next couple of days right next to my Sprint touch (which still has 2.03 pri on it and is working blazing fast with 8-12 sats) and report back.

Okay, I was just about to try this, but I'm feeling nervous pulling the trigger. Here's what I've got right now:

* phone unlocked with 2.31
* flashed with Sprint 3.02
* Used kitchen to put on a 3.02

Right now the phone & data work great (with Rev A). Gps is slowish mostly, although today I can't lock at all, even after pulling the battery

My plan was:

* swap back to the 6700
* obtain PPST.cab from...somewhere...and install
* swap back to 6900 and do *228 stuff

My questions are:

* I can't find a copy of the ppst.cab
* I thought I had read the swapping the phone out first will elimnate the a-key thing becuase *228 will reset it after the esn change
* If this fails, how does one roll back

Thoughts? Again, this is on Verizon.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Think I screwed something up. I changed my pri to 2.xx ran the espt file--it said not compatible with my os but I ran it anyway. I then thought if I flashed my rom it might wipe everything out but it didn't-I'm still on 2.xx. How can I get back to pri 1.xx? Does it hurt anything to be on 2.xx?

Now I have the triangle and I'm on "preferred system" What does this mean?

I can make voice calls but don't have internet service.

I'm on rom version 3.02 and radio 3.37

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

I got everything figured out and didn't even have to perform all these steps.

I just ran the new radio sprint leaked rom to get the new radio (hit soft reset before it customized)

Ran Ghettorider's cab and the ensuing ppst file found in windows. Soft reset.

Loaded my favorite rom (nexvision's new Hulk) Great Rom! After this I did have to contact verizon for a new A-key and they had to rebuild my data files to get me internet access but it was worth it.

Loaded Holux GPSviewer to prime the sats and bingo got 4 sats in less than a minute. Make sure you click on Cold Start I think. Makes a difference if you're outside, too. AT least for me it did.
