Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Verizon users:

I bit the bullet and tried the ppst upgrade last night.

Setup:
- 2.31 unlocker
- Sprint leak 3.37.15 rom (no customizations)
- OMJ's Verizon OEM rom (there are a few items below I wouldn't have to do if I kept the sprint leak on it - so this step and the other noted wouldn't be necessary)
- Grabbed ppst...cab from my other Sprint Touch (I would have this by default if I kept the sprint leaked rom on my touch)
- ran ppst.cab and then the resulting ppst.exe
- pri flashed from 1.37_002 to 2.03...
- got preferred roaming and the roaming triangle
- couldn't make a call or data (which was expected)
- got the Sprint version of epst.epst and loaded on Verizon touch (I would have this by default if I kept the sprint leak)
- change epst.lnk to call #786 and ran it to get to reverse logistics screen (you can do this another way by getting ghetto's epst.cab file or by simply leaving the sprint 3.37.15 rom on your touch from early on in the steps)
- performed menu:reset
- Verizon Wireless came back as my provider but couldn't make calls (a key) or data (ppp error 11).
- called Verizon. They did 3 important things to get my voice and data back up:
- Reset my a-key (#2539 and they reset it on their end)
- Completely removed my data profile from their system and re-added it.
- dialed *228 option 1, *228 option 2, *22890, *22899 (90 may be redundant because it's basically *228 opt 1 - 99 is different because it specifically reloads the data provisioning)
- phone and data now work fine.
- had to re-setup gpsmode=4 and location=on and gps settings in system.

So the big question..... does gps work better?

Not sure yet, but I don't think it made much difference. I'm going to test over the next couple of days right next to my Sprint touch (which still has 2.03 pri on it and is working blazing fast with 8-12 sats) and report back.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Did all that too the other day! You did a much better job of documenting the steps [pretty much] I endured.

I did the ##786 and RESET while still on the Sprint Leaked ROM.

Flashed to OMJ and tried reprovisioning the phone on OMJ Full Custom VZw ROM *228 Options 1 & 2 - no joy. Had No phone service and was roaming - Had IOTA Errors all over the place and had no internet connect.

Got it all pretty much working - but GPS joy still eludes me.

I see a LOT of satellites relatively quickly - its just LOCKING on takes a long while.

Trying no to be H8'n ... LOL ... friggin Vzw ... [my internet connections speeds are < 500kbps too ]

Try it with gpsmode=2. I leave it at 2, locks in like 30 s, 8-10 sats now.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

So i found this after a guys did a radio upgrade and i was wondering if it could help our fellow verizon users since he posts the link to a prl file... Also his problem seemed to me kinda like the same people experience after running ppst and pri upgrade... But this fix only resets the prl, not pri...

Anyways... I hope this help, if not, no paper wasted!

Alex

Quote:

Help... I have Sprint on my touch and was using roaming to get EvDO on my area. It was all working great until I decided to try to upgrade my radio to 3.37.15 using (RUU_Vogue_4350_PPST_SpeciallNBH_SPRINT_WWE_3.02.6 51.2_Radio_435011_3.37.15_AM_NV_SPCS_1.33_0823_Tes t.exe) from 3.37.10 (used RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH.exe)

After the upgrade when I set my phone to roaming only it stays on 1X. I've been searching the forum for this but no luck.

Clues anyone?

UPDATE:
I'VE FOUND THE FIX (i feel like a ninja now !!! So, apparently PRL 60611 removes EvDO from Roaming... One of the roms i used upgraded the PRL to 60612 and you'd lose EvDO when Roaming. Solution? downgrade your PRL to 60610.

To do that:
1. download the PRL file from http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/attac...0610-60610.zip
2. extract it in your My Documents folder inside your phone memory (not card).
3. dial ##775# and wait till it asks for your MSL to unlock it (ton of threads on how to get your MSL).
4. Highlight UPDATE PRL
5. Menu Edit
6. Browse to the file...
7. Ok, and say Yes to update.
8. Soft-reset and you're set!

Yes - GPS is working better - getting a signal faster than before. There were times were I wouldn't ever get a lock in particular areas and now I can.

I would add one more question to this. Will the a-key choke everytime you hard-reset? I thought I had hear that was a possibility.

This was the case for me. Installed Sprint PPST and executed... soft booted. It was fine... I have an updated PRI now.
