Re: How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch

Question on the instructions (the last step):

Now to check settings:
- Go to Start > Settings > Personal > Phone > Services > Location Settings > Make sure its set to ON.
- Start > Settings > System > GPS > GPS Program Port is 4, Hardware Port is None, Baud Rate is 4800, Access is set to automatically

** Under Start > Settings > System >
I only find "External GPS", not "GPS" did I do something wrong? I assumed it was typo and I configured the external gps as was described.

I tried Google maps and Live search and they both failed.
Google Maps indicated that no GPS receiver was found. Any ideas?

let google map use automatic GPS setting, go outside and wait 5-10min for your first fix
Or you can get Holux GPS Viewer to see if your GPS is working, the software is free

External GPS is correct. Have you done this part added by Mindfrost82?

Did you let the Alltel rom install the customizations? If you did and you're not an Alltel customer then that's your problem.

Re: How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch

Three words : Use GPS Viewer!!!

I have been bummed all day cause I installed the Alltel ROM and JDs ROM yesterday and all I was getting was some aGPS location crap which was wayyyy off...

So tonight I installed the Holux GPS Viewer ( Found here... ) and saw all kinds of different satellites but no locks... I literally walked out into the middle of the street and BAM!!! In the status screen of GPS viewer the red outlines change to solid blue and all of a sudden I automagically know where I am... Well at least Google Maps knows where I am... =)

Once again much thanks to everyone making this work and props to JD for making the ROM which makes the entire process smoother.

Re: How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch

the question for those who good their GPS installed properly.....

if you type in your dial pad ##33284 and press SEND then you will get into debugging menu.... Click view and at the bottom you will have Debug info button press that button and it will give you three options 1x, HDR, GPS. so choose the GPS option..... the question is if your GPS is activated then does there any information under GPS option?
