Re: New Alltel 3.04.671.2 Rom Released, Rev A enabled

i hard reset, allowed customization, autoreset, installed google maps immediately
clicked "use gps" and waited about 2 minutes and it locked.. no apps installed, no configuring, nothing everything just worked.. i wonder if it was the hard reset that did it although i see no reason why it would have an effect. google maps and live working VERY FAST. no need for quickgps for me.. and im INDOORS.

now im wondering is gps on all the time? will it consume my battery?? in future roms will we be able to enable/disable gps via comm manager?? questions questions....

I think its the same as the mogul... if you have an app open thats using it its on and draining the battery... if not its not on per se. You can disable it by going to settings -> phone -> services -> Location setting -> get settings and switching it to off. But it shouldn't drain the battery if its not in use.

I also got it to work with google maps, took about a minute for it to lock. I'm going to try quick gps and see if that helps or hurts. I had 3-4 on one side of my building in my apt complex, 5-6 on the other side. After the signal went out though it didn't lock back on.. had to toggle use gps off then on and it poped right back up. All in all seems to work real well. My mogul which i had for about a week by comparison had around 12 active satelites.

So to recap, I hard reset, let the customization go, installed google maps, clicked use gps, waited approximately 1-2 minutes and it got a lock. Its accurate. This is with JD's ROM. Not sure why this didn't work before for me cause I could have sworn I did exactly this last time.

quick question: is anyone having issues with the htc home screen taking you to the general "select an account" screen when you hit the email button? how do I remap this? is everyone having this issue? (not really huge but my other setup took me right to the email inbox)...

JD's latest test rom, INSTALL ALLTEL FIRST.. DON'T customize... then flash to jd's rom.

Edit: With JD's ROM GPS should work out right away nothing needs to be installed no settings need to be changed, if it doesn't hard reset. Make sure you're giving it 1-2 minutes to lock on also.

With just Alltel you WILL need to preform the software unlock, and then install the titan enable GPS cab... information for which is floating around in here and I think i've posted it at least 3 times myself. But if you can't find it and need it I will post again.

Re: New Alltel 3.04.671.2 Rom Released, Rev A enabled

Good Day!

TomTom does not want to seem to fire up the GPS on its own. I can start Google Maps, acquire satellites no problem, then start TomTom & it acquires satellites without issue.

Is there a way to configure the service so that TomTom will start it without having to start Google Maps first.

Also, TomTom appears to work no matter what baud rate I set under GPS coniguration, is there a certain baud rate that is optimal though?

Thanks, Audi2Audi.

UPDATE!

I solved my own problem with a little reading!

Using AstroGPSLauncher found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364199

TomTom now works perfectly!

Any ideas on the Baud rate selection though?

Thanks again, Audi2Audi.
