Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Mine does after 1 month running a rom. I have to reflash and after that it works again. I'm sure it's a software thing.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Mine still doesn't work but has some different symptoms than yalls.

I am running stock everything and am on Sprint. I don't use my GPS much, don't have too but tried on Sunday when I was in Houston and that is when I first noticed the problem. The usual random restarting that I have read on here. I read this thread this morning and saw the problem was fixed, I tried the GPS while driving home this afternoon from class with Google Maps. Found my location but never moved me, just kept saying searching for satellite signal. After 5 minutes or so, I got a message saying that I have a weak satellite signal, I need to have a clear view of the sky. There wasn't a cloud out today and it was worked from the cab of my truck before. The message asked if I wanted to keep searching for GPS signal or stop and I told it to stop. Then about 45 minutes later, after I exited Google maps and stuff, I was texting and the phone restarted...

Anyone else getting the weak signal message?

Brian

It's basically the same problem. When Google Maps gives you an initial location but never updates the position, usually that is because the initial location was approximated from cell tower or IP address. It is doubtful you ever got GPS to lock properly, which is why your position didn't update.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Mine was working perfectly till about 30min ago and now gps has completely stopped working again. As I mentioned previously this is a nationwide issue and not specific to one phone or carrier per Sprint's Tech Support. Symptoms just vary, and yes I kept getting the weak signal message.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the WiMax 4G integration rolling out... I keep thinking about that Samsung Moment, so sweet! I sure would miss alot of my apps for WM tho.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Here is an interesting little twist that may or may not have anything to do with this issue.

I get up at 5:15 for work pacific time. I have an alarm clock you never have to set because it sets itself to the correct time using the atomic clock signal from were ever it comes from. Last Sunday when I woke up my clock had already reset itself to standard time.

This morning my alarm went off, I got up, my clock said it was 5:15, but it was only 4:15. I check to make sure my clock was getting a signal, it was, so I had it do a manual reset and 2 minutes later it was back to the correct time.

Strange

Thumbs down Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

my gps was crashing and rebooting my phone before DST.

after DST, my phone was not locking, and it seemed more stable, but GPS wouldn't track or follow me.

I flashed to 1.12 radio, and everything seems to work fine now.

That's exactly the same problem everyone else is having. To google maps weak means none. It does not always reboot. Reset and you get one lock and then it will lose it again.
