Is it possible to get the hero instead of the tp2 with Asurion?

though I'm not sure really, i like both of them... I was thinking about getting the hero now and hoping that sprint will get the hd2 or adonis next year so I'll upgrade to that one...

You could always get the TP2 and do a trade off for the Hero on Craigslist if they don't. Might even be able to earn some money on the trade in the process (as I think the Hero is a cheaper phone).

From what I can tell, they are pressed to offer the Snap, Tour, Treo Pro first.

The Asurion rep read me the script, and she said "if the user is not satisfied with the choices, then you can offer the Touch Pro 2 if it is in stock, if it is not in stock, then place a back order for the Touch Pro".

This sort of thing seems to happen around all new releases of the major phones. When the mogul started getting replaced with the tp I sort of remember a feeding frenzy...I bought the diamond and the pro and I remember being jealous of all the mogul owners getting free/deductible priced upgrades...and yes it is too good to be true but somehow the old rule doesn't apply. el oh el.

Just my two pennies but if I were you I would try to get the tp2 while the getting is good. You can sell it NIB on eBay for 4-5 hundo then buy the hero for a buck seven nine.

I'm keeping mine until the hd2 comes out then it gets handed down to the wifey. \\:D/

thanks for the vote of confidence skep, ill be excited to get it. sprints loss, ive tried numerous times with them since hero came out to early upgrade me so i can get it, and they wouldnt even though my upgrade is nov.1. no they dont get my contract renewed just yet, and i dont pay them for the phone, maybe they get some of it, but not all. and yes, my upgrade will be intact if a better phone comes along in the new, when im bored of the tp2, or like someone said ill flip it on ebay,use my upgrade on a hero and have some spare cash

Happy Happy Joy Joy... TP2 on its way. Very nice lady answered my call. She offered the Treo and I told her its not the same.. She placed me on hold for 2 mins, counter offered with the snap, a curve and the tour. Told her none are near what the touch pro can do. I asked how come I just cant have another Touch Pro. She told me none available in their system, thats when I told her that the only phone close to the touch pro is the TP2. She asked me to hold and 3 mins later she told me a TP2 is on it way... Im off thursday yoo.. Happy Happy Joy Joy....\\:D/

Did you do the claim first online and then call or you just gave them a call and went from there on. Im scared of calling and getting a person who is a dik and wont help. Im also scared of calling and teeling me a touch pro is on its way. That would be bad luck.

Okay so you need insurance first right?

My situation is my phone keyboard is broken... I don't have insurance but is still in the warranty (11 months so far...) I'm on Sprint!

How would I go about getting a TP2? Do I have to add insurance first from sprint? Can you even do that? Last time I remember something about after a couple of months you can no longer add insurance.

Wow to my bad luck. I tried to do my claim online and I got this message, "We apologize for any inconvenience; however, for your protection, further verification is required to file your claim. Please contact us at 1-800-584-3666 and one of our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to further assist you." Damn isnt this when they ask you for you to Mail them a copy of your ID and some other stuff? What do I do?

lol you are already in too deep, too late to waive off, either go big, or run for the hills...No but seriously, I had to call because they were out of my device, and all of the others they have been offering aren't the same hardware configuration...At one point one of the managers tried to tell me that I could call HTC and pay to upgrade the old Verizon TP1's ram

Does anyone know if HTC will replace TP with a TP2 under their warranty? I got my TP from Asurion back in June of 2009 because my youngest son broke the screen. But my replacement was a NIB TP but the Navigation Controls are missed up. I never used the Nav. Control but my wife found that it was not working. I sent an email to HTC about it and I called Asurions, waiting on a call back. What do yall think will happen?

Just call in. When they tell you Treo Pro, Snap, or Tour.... tell them you are not satisfied with the options.

Yeah I got it too, it supp to be a random thing aparently. Faxed my info yesterday and Im waiting for them to call me to verify. If I dont get a call 15 after 8 then im calling them and trying to get this going before they get a shipment of TP's today (???).

I just called and got the "random" form that needs to be faxed to them. I am wondering if this is there way to slow down the process until they get more TP1s in. Did anyone else call this morning and not get the "random" form requirement?

I have to fax in the form too. I don't think they're doing this to slow the claims down. I got was suppose to do this before but I got lazy and just did the it through sprints online advance exchange.

I just called and was offered the Treo Pro or the Tour. I said I did not want a blackberry or palm and before I could finish he said, "I can get you a TP2 which is an updated version of the TP." I said I did not know what that was but since it is and update why not cause I love my TP. Will be at my door tomorrow sometime.

I have the insurance plan and all I did was call them direct. I made it sound like I wanted a touch pro.. After she gave me all the other phones as an option, I just asked why cant I just get a touch pro... and I nicely told her that none of those phone can match up to what the TP can do. I didnt ask to speak to supervisor and she placed me on hold one last time and bingo!

You should be able to get a TP2 if you call Asurion directly. They will try to offer you other devices, but just say none of them are comparable and they will eventually offer you TP2. Good luck!

Called back to ask about the out of stock problem, she wouldn't give me any information until my "documents" were in. No use in sending them in and paying $100 if I am not sure of the TP2 replacement.

Wow, this sucks for me. On the warranty option I took a blackberry tour for a touch pro a few days ago. Then yesterday I see this thread :angry2:. I called them yesterday and told them i didn't like the blackberry and they are sending me a touch pro again. So hopefully I will be able to do this. So does anybody know how long you have to have a phone on your account before you can file an insurance claim?

They offered a Treo Pro or a Tour. Said I had both a blackberry and palm and did not like them. I also said how are they on the same level with my touch pro. I said the keyboard on both is exposed and that is not what I wanted. They offered me the TP2. I took it hand over foot.

I have done it in as little as four days.
