It could be a couple of things.

1. Maybe on the Touch Pro HTC underclocked the processor.
2. TF3D2 could have been completely optimized.
3. Better drivers/re-written drivers.

All I know is that MightyMike said that his TP2 (stock) is way faster than his TP and the battery life is extremely improved.

My suggestion? Convince Sprint to give you the TP2 when it's released to make up for the shortcomings of your TP. I did this with my Mogul and was able to get the TP. I plan on doing this again because I've replaced my TP four times already and now it turns itself off randomly (happens about once every 3 days) so I will have to replace it again and instead I will convince them to give me a TP2 as a replacement.

Re: Losing Faith in Windows Mobile 6.xx

I dont think the " I will threaten to cancel my contract " plan because I have sero and only half a year left on my contract. I think they would be willing to sacrifice me even if i complain about my TP and leaving sprint. WHat shall i do?!

Re: Losing Faith in Windows Mobile 6.xx

i would agree that WinMo is a neglected system and we deserve better features and more frequent updates.

i personally am going to wait for WinMo 7 (i like 6.5 but it's just more of the same). i have also decided that most of the poor performance from the TP is the fault of qualcom. i WILL NOT be purchasing a phone w/ snapdragon. moreover Tegra looks amazing and drastically outperforms snapdragon while using one tenth of the power snapdragon requires.

I really don't think sprint is going to let you upgrade for free for a long time. The price tag is to high and to soon. maybe a year later yes. Just doesn't make business sense. Sprint has a different attitude lately towards cancellation. I tried polling that a while back and they didn't budge. They will call your bluff

I know where the OP is coming from because I feel the same way - especially after playing around with the Android port. The OS is prettier, much more responsive. When you click something, it opens - it doesn't pop up with a little color wheel and spin for a few seconds. The kinetic scrolling is picture perfect smooth - same way with switching between panels. Currently, I'm running 6.5 and tweaked to hell with a 32MB pp. I thought my start menu scrolled smooth and awesome - till I tried the Android port. For reference, if you play games - it's the difference between 30fps and 60fps. 30 is great - but 60 is fluid. Unfortunately, the port is currently just a novelty. Nothing important is functional. I believe the only phone that has real functionality is the Vogue.

You can use pointui and wad to create themes - but you're still going to have the sluggishness of the WinMo OS. You flick left or right and it takes a second - or maybe you have to flick again. You open something... but there's that color wheel. Mobile Shell 3 seems to be the smoothest front end I've tried with WinMo - it's nice but not great. I think I ruined myself by playing with Android on my phone - it really set the bar pretty high.

I'm currently seriously debating getting the HTC Hero when it comes out. However, if the Android port gets the phone part functional - I hope that will be enough to hold me off until Sprint either gets a Tegra or Snapdragon powered phone (Android unless the increased power speeds up WinMo) and/or Win 7.

Re: Losing Faith in Windows Mobile 6.xx

I say, "D". We already know that current phones won't be upgradeable to W7, so I'm holding off for one that can run 7
I,ve used WM since it first came out, and haven't been too impresses since wm2003se and the first vga devices, but wm7 looks very promising.

Re: Losing Faith in Windows Mobile 6.xx

If the TP2 is indeed faster, couldn't one just overclock our TP's processor to the TP2's clock speed, get the new drivers, and have out TP's running just as fast??? (if not faster since we have a smaller screen, and hopefully less resolution as a result)

Re: Losing Faith in Windows Mobile 6.xx

i might go with my last option and just wait for WM7 but im tech savy!! When i first signed a contract with sprint, only 1.5 yrs ago because of SERO, i went through the mogul, touch, touch diamond, then the pro. I just feel like i need something to quench my thirst for technology!! hopefully sprint does not exclude SERO users to the HTC Hero if it does get released for sprint because android is pretty slick

yea just hold off...go do mighty 6.1 rom and it just be a whole lot faster.. also if you upgrade to tp2 and when wm7 comes out you would have to upgrade all over again more money to spend for 2 phones unless you hold off and you be able to upgrade and not cost you to much for a new phone for wm7
