Re: My friend hates his TP cuz of these issues and blames me 4 selling him on HTC.
I don't know if I believe the 3 batteries a day story. I am currently using my Diamond (I know it has slightly better life than the TP, but the difference isn't that great), and since 7am (its now almost 4pm) I have listened to music all day, data connected all day, push email- have received 25+ emails, sent and received 30+ text, 5 phone calls, and surfed the net for a while during lunch. My battery is now at 20%. I know 20% is pretty low, but I have used the hell out of this phone today and I'm pretty pleased with these results. BTW, signal strength in my building is low so my phone has to work pretty hard to maintain signal and connection.

Your bud needed a phone that an 12 year can use out of the box, hence the iphone. I have had my Touch Pro for a month, and NEVER experienced the freezes, or being slow (please...- unless it is Verizon- their phones have less ram)...The Touch Pro can be customizable all around. Just last night I, thanks to a member here, I surf the net on my 46 inch LCD tv through my touch pro using an RCA jack that I put together....Your friend had little issues that either a cooked rom or a little of tweaking could easily tweaked or fixed. Don't knock the touch pro, it is a solid, strong phone...way better than the iphone. With the touch pro2 around the corner, it is only going to get sweeter... |

![]() I was intrigued at the 1700+ contacts component of the OP...I seem to recall another person who posted awhile back having issues with a very large number of contacts. For a business user I can completely understand having that many contacts (particularly in sales), but as I'm nowhere near that can only wonder if there are inefficiencies in the WM contacts code that cause problems when you get to huge numbers of people. I suspect the average number of contacts people have is quite a bit lower than 1000. And I thought sprint nav did work from contacts, but maybe I was wrong. I never use it that way but again if you're in sales and you need to get to a rep's office in a new city, that would be a nice feature. Anyway, WM has a long way to go in software and hardware before I'll start recommending it to people I know. But whenever I see someone with a WM smartphone, I get a little nod of appreciation and sometimes get to talk about how they've customized it, which is sort of cool. Reminds me of how Alfa owners often wave to each other on the road. |

The only issue I have in common with this guy is miserable battery life. Which is a significant issue, but everything else he mentioned I don't have problems with.
Maybe I'm just a smart kind of guy. |

This is my feeling exactly. I tell my father (iPhone user) about how much I love my phone and he asks, "Should I be jealous? Do I need one?" -- and I have to explain that no matter what cool stuff I can do with my phone, he would stand about a snowflake's chance in Hades of getting a Touch Pro to work as well *for him* as the iPhone does. Windows Mobile, in general, has been a total failure in terms of mainstream usability, but has been a huge success in terms of providing an open and nonrestrictive foundation for community support and development. It's a platform for technical-minded critical thinkers, people who can not only handle advanced device features and configurations, but crave such things -- and the iPhone is rather the opposite, a platform which encourages only *approved* software development and community modifications, for people that are naturally repelled by the need to learn advanced features and configurations, and just want simple, basic functionality. Hopefully, future iterations of Windows Mobile will close the gap, and allow people who want simplicity to get off the iPhone crutch while still allowing the rest of us to get under the hood. I can dream, can't I?

It's not your fault he doesn't like it & he's being a jerk for putting it all on you. To each his own, if he doesn't like it tell him to get something else.
