I got to tier 3 tech support yesterday, and I kept giving them the MEID and they said that there was nothing that they can do on their end. Is there anything else I need to do?

LOL I giggle whenever I hear "tier 3" for VZW tech support. Anyways, the only thing you can do is keep trying/calling. Apparently, only a few reps know one of the procedures for getting a phone added to the DMD and of those few even fewer seem to know/use the one that works. Keep trying...

What exactly is the proper procedure and method? Just curious should the issue come up.

It's not really a procedure or method. Just call tech support. It depends on the rep. The rep I talked to told me that she's going to add the TP to the DMD. Just tell them that it's a Alltel phone.

Third time's a charm for me. Thanks Ace!

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)

I have an Omnia sitting here that I would like to try but can't because my Sprint TP is on my vzn account right now without being added to the DMD. I put it on back in January using the old method. If I call and tell them I want my "Alltel" TP added so it shows up on my online account, because now it just says "unknown device" will that work? Once added, I can just do *228 to switch between the two right?

Thank you!

If I knew that or could say I would have. I'm just inferring from the reports I have seen from people who have called.

Yes, once it is added to the DMD you should be safe to switch between the 2. If you were to switch devices now, you might not be able to switch back. Depends on whether the DMD profile for your "unknown device" is permanent or not. Don't think anyone has tried it yet that I can recall. Best get it aded to the DMD first before risking it.

I am pretty sure they are not permanent.

A guy I work with added a Sprint TP to VZ last year with the old method. It worked fine until right about when VZ blocked the *228 method of adding a phone (he didn't know they had changed this).

At that point, he activated an old flip phone when he was going out of town & didn't want to take his expensive/highly tweaked TP with him. When he got back from the trip, his "unknown device" refused to activate no matter what he did.

He ended up reflashing it to stock Sprint & selling it on ebay. He then bought an Omnia (which he hates)
