I dont believe most people are intentionally breaking their phone for replacements. The deductible has been $50 forever, and phones these days are much more expensive then older ones. It's inevitable that the price would be going up. Now while I don't condone people intentionally breaking they're phones, I'm not blaming them for the increasing cost. By all means flame the sh*t out of someone who publically says they are, they should be banned, but other factors are the reason for the increase.

And when my mogul was on it's last legs, and I was offered a touch pro from Asurion, why the hell would I not take it? Yeah, the phone still worked, but did it work like I believe it should have? No. I pay for insurance. Guess what, you could call Asurion and say "I just threw my phone on the ground and it broke, I'd like a replacement." (I had an ex that drove me to do this) Until they change their guidelines on what is replaceable and what is not, then anything goes.

I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree here. First of all, if Joe Schmo decides to read my thread and buy a broken 6700 and attempt to send it in, hes still going to have to have the TEP. Secondly, whats to stop him from thinking about doing that before? They don't just hand out new phones to any schmuck with a broken one. The company could give a lick which phone you decide to file a claim on so long as its activated. You're paying the insurance either way. Whats the difference whether I use my insurance to replace my Centro, or the 6700? That's not fraud.

People have been trying to scam insurance companies since they existed.. thats a given. the price isnt going to go up just because of me. You said if you were a newb like me you would take my info and go to ebay....so why don't you?

Probably because you are not criminal minded. People who want to be scumbags will be scumbags regardless. If its not defrauding Sprint, or Asurion, it will be some other company or person.

Here Here, coolwhip! By the way, how's the weather there in Puyallup? I used to head up there a few times a year to do some work at the Hobart factory. What a beautiful view of Mt. Rainier from their parking lot. Seriously. Wish I would have had this phone then so I could have taken some crappy-stitched panoramics.

"Off-topic"

Little snow today. The view of Rainier is probably the best view I've ever seen. For those of you that live in WA, if you havent taken the 410 up to bonney lake, your missing out. You come up over this hill on a 4 lane highway and Rainier is right in front of you, completely unobstructed. Plus, I think its just awesome to live somewhere that actually has "Volcanoe Evacuation Route" signs.

dude. i am criminal minded. i'm a hacker, a geek, a thief....all of that. and yes, yes, yes...without a shadow of doubt, if i had no clue about this.......i really, really would be on my way to ebay right now to purchase a broken 6700.....like, REALLY.

EXACTLY coolwhip, EXACTLY. i steal neighbors wep codes...sell pirated software, all the types of things 'geeks' do. hack...which is more often then not what makes them a geek.

and it only takes a 'little' to trigger a flame in that geeks mind..and he'll run with it from there.

I hear what you're saying. All I'm saying is its not a big secret that if you send in a defective product for replacement, and the replacement isn't available, you'll likely get the next product up.

And its no guarantee. The guy's exact words to me were "its a roll of the dice"
Chances are, you'll get another 6700.

Moreover, if you really are criminal minded, then what is your big issue? that I'm going to spoil the big secret and ruin it for the rest of the thieves? That just seems silly to me.
