I'm on my third, however I have legitimate reason to do so.

The first had the home key area coming up so far you could put your finger nail under it. It was getting caught on my pocket and pretty much everything, it was returned to Best Buy within the initial 30 days.

Second TP - hardware keyboard totally stopped working.

Third TP (current) - I dropped it a few days ago on to concrete... it got a couple small dings and the screen protector took a beating... as well as the home key area again because it's raised pretty far. I'm still going to hang on to this one. The small scratches are just going to happen. If it's only got a few, man up and wait it out.

Come on guys! Sometimes things are just funny! Are you telling me that wasn't a big fat juicy meatball over the plate, waiting to be hit outta' the park? And for the record, I didn't try "5-6-7-END"....... I'm flashing my phone so I can't dial out.

this is what kiled sero and dropped call credits, etc. what if i was to tell you..."if u press 567 End on your device....sprint will deposit 5 grand in your account", exactly how long do u think that will last before they ended it? Probably not too long right? which is why i would never post a trick like that on a community website, and would continue to use it myself as long as i can.

whatever it may be, when everybody starts to do it.....it ruins it.
I don't know what you mean by "these types of threads are bad." I'm not revealing any sort of secret "trick." The phone I was using was discontinued so they sent me the next model up... which happened to be faulty so they sent me the next one up from that. Its not the first time a company has done that. Its almost standard practice for any company.

I am not an example of someone who is abusing the TEP. Nor am I encouraging anyone to do so.

Re: Gotta love Sprint TEP.

What information? That if you file a claim on a product they no longer support you might get a different product? I don't see a problem with sharing my story. I just thought it was neat. In the back of my mind I always knew it was a possibility because the 6700 is an old phone. Someone can take any information and use it the "wrong way" but that's on them.

I'm not the guy who wanted to turn my phone in because It had a scratch.
What I did is not fraud in any way, nor does it encourage it. I think you are barking up the wrong tree here.

No, I totally agree. I'm saying the times I've had to go to Sprint to get my phone exhanged have been because the one they sent me was defective, not because "Oh no someone across the room sneezed and I think something got on my pristine phone." Asurion is probably pushing for the rate increase though... but $100? You can get a brand new TP on ebay for $200-300 now, so I'm really having a tougher time seeing the insurance as a value at this point. ($84/yr... $184 paid on a replacement after a year. In a year, you'll probably be able to find one on ebay for less than that).

Re: Gotta love Sprint TEP.

Xellios...u shoulda kept that to yourself. check it out....if i was a newb like yourself there...and jus read this thread, i'd b on ebay right about now looking for an old and broke 6700 to take back to sprint to trade out for a touch pro.

yes, that is me taking the information and using it the wrong way. and yes that is on me. but yes...i'll probably still get my touch pro, jus like the 500 others who thought like me. and in the end, it will effect you. trust me when i say this....IT WILL EFFECT YOU. and you will see. as this thread contributed to it! not directly...but indirectly. u gotta be smarter then that man. and if u stick around long enough, u will be.

Same here. I've had the insurance for quite some time now and I've made one claim.

Re: Gotta love Sprint TEP.

I don't think anyone in this thread has screwed over TEP. But there are plenty of threads about it here, if you do a little searching. But truth be told TEP rarely comes into play with these phones, especially the Touch Pro. If you have TEP, Sprint covers the phone for the full 1 year warranty. If not, you get 30 days from Sprint and the remainder of the 1 year warranty is through the HTC. If you lose it or drop it in a pool, that's TEP regardless, but if it's an issue with hardware or software, that's warranty through Sprint/HTC. One caveat is if you buy it at BB or another retailer. But the majority of people here have gotten their phones from Sprint. I have used TEP once, 3 years ago. It was a nightmare. The phone they sent was a certified POS. The second one wasn't much better. I keep it so I can go right into my local store and just get my problems taken care of.
