Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free
Updated the main post with this tidbit....
EDIT: For those of you worrying about getting a charge, this is straight from the Sprint call forwarding policy... " Calls that are forwarded by default to voicemail or mobile messaging are not charged the standard $.20 per minute rate. Calls received when you set unconditional Call Forwarding (*72), Call Forward Busy (*74), and Call Forward No Answer (*73) are charged at $.20 per minute. " So as long as you just change your voicemail number with all fields set to conditional, you should not get charged |

Also as a side note to anyone that does this, the instructions say to install to the memory card, but we have found out that if you install on the memory card then the program has to be open to receive voicemails automatically. So just install it on the phone as most of us probably would've done that first anyways. |

To be fair, the same page also lists this as the very last bullet point: Quote:
Now understand, I'm NOT saying that you can't have this without being charged (I'm sure there are ways for Sprint reps to do this, and I'm sure their system isn't perfect). What I'm saying is, be aware of the above before you use this as your argument as to why you should get free forwarding. Last edited by auto_exec; 01-07-2009 at 02:57 PM. |

True, but that statement itself is vague, it could mean a number of things, like as you took it only the default sprint voicemail number, right? Or it could mean your voicemail number you use for sprint in this case 813.......which is now my sprint voicemail number ![]() Regardless, the facts are, the way we set it up, we are not charged, so the rest doesn't even matter, the only reason I put it in the main post is for peace of mind |

Well I think its been clearly stated: The Visual voice mail is free, and you dont get charged for the forwarding. HOWEVER, yes, it is possible that you might get charged. Even when I got my voicemail changed, they told me I would get charged, they said anytype of forwarding I would be charged. BUT, I have not gotten charged. See the tech's may tell u one thing, but remember its not the techs that compute ur bill, its the sprint computers. The sprint computer will see it as simply a new voicemail number. If you have them change your the number your voicemail goes to only, you wont be charged. I too was leary aboout getting charged(of course I dont want to pay .20 a minute). But REGARDLESS if the techs say u will get charged, it its on conditional forwarding(where THEY change it, not YOU by dialing *72 or whatever),you most likely will not be charged. So again, just call back in a day or 2 just to make sure you're on conditional and not being charged. If so, cancel the service. So far the longest that ive seen a person to leave a voicemail is 1 minute, so dont be scared that somebody will leave you a 100 minute voicemail. |

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free
I know this is an old thread and maybe I won't be able to get an answer, but I wanted to clarify something. I called a tier 2 rep, but was informed that the voicemail can't be set to that phone number, it has to be set to be forwarded so in the end I will be charged for the forwarding. Also I was wondering how does everyone having the same phone number works?
Of course the rep could've set the options to conditional but it made no sense to me since the voicemail number couldn't be changed and it was going to be set up to be forwarded which ruins the purpose I guess... Could anyone enlighten me a little on this? |
