Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free
^^^^^^^^^^^ wow fraud did they really say all that?
I had a tech say u would get charged no matter what type of call forwarding u put on ur phone. However I let them add it anyway, but after 2 bills i havent been charged. Easiest way is like he mentioned dont even mention forwarding, just tell them to change the number that your voicemail goes to. But again like mentioned, make sure its set up on your account to be Conditional. Seems only way people get charged is if the tech does apply this properly on your account. So set it up, then call back in a day or 2 and check that its down as conditional in your accounts. Yes this is at your own risk, but worst case is to simply call back every other day or so to see if you are incurring charges, u wont get a sky high bill from that even if by chance u get charged. |

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free
This is cracking me up. You guys keep saying things like, "don't mention call forwarding, but just tell them to set your account up as conditional." Conditional call forwarding is still call forwarding and results in a .20/min charge.
Here is how it works. There are three categories of call forwarding on your Sprint account: 1. Unconditional: This will cause your incoming calls to immediately be routed to another phone number. Your phone will not even ring with this set up. Charge: .20/min. 2. Conditional: There are two types of conditional forwarding. Busy and No Answer. If this is set up, someone calls you, and the line is busy or you do not answer, the call will then be forwarded to the number specified. Charge: .20/min. 3. Default Voicemail. This is set up by default and is what sends unanswered calls to your sprint voicemail. It is technically a default form of conditional call forwarding that is overridden if you have set up busy/no answer call forwarding. Sprint does not allow the default voicemail number to be changed. It is against their policy because if they allowed people to change it, they could bypass being charged for call forwarding. The ONLY way to avoid call forwarding charges is to have them change the default voicemail number on your account. As I have previously stated, I spoke to two different Supervisors in tier 2 tech support and was told that it is against Sprint policy to allow the default voicemail number to be changed. The biggest reason that most of the reps you talk to have no idea what you're wanting them to do is because they are not taught about it. The reason they are not taught about it is that Sprint doesn't want them to do it. Getting this done properly is going to be hit or miss at best.

It has worked for so many of us who did it like this, and trust me, I understand the process, if you would actually read, you'd realize what we are doing, we are changing the default voicemail number and contrary to your two "supervisors" they don't have a problem with it |

Man..you need to relax a bit. No need in getting worked up. I'm just trying to make sure everyone has all the information. I said many times that people might be able to get it to work. How do you think I spoke with two different supervisors? I was trying to get them to do it on my account. My whole point was that everyone might not have success getting it set up correctly. Giving people the whole story avoids much angst and frustration.

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free
When you called in, what did you tell them when they asked why you want to do this? I mentioned that I was trying to set-up visual voicemail and i opened up a can of worms because they said only the instinct can do this. Can you guys kinda provide me a script to follow? Or should i just be adamant about them just changing my default voicemail? I know not to mention call forwarding, but what if they bring it up first?

For me, it worked the very first time, the way I did it, so I told everyone else to do it the same way.... For some others it seems they have had to recall a couple of times, and then they got it to work, but they did eventually get it to work... For you, you couldn't get them to do it and obviously want to make sure everyone knows, and that is fine, now we all know you couldn't get it to work... What I don't understand is why you have to post like you are the be all end all... We get it, I don't need you telling me time and time again that I don't understand the process because I do Thing is if you would read you would understand how we do it..... So I suggest that if you want it, try back again, exactly as the first post, this way you can have it like the rest of us |

I would just tell them that you need to change your voicemail number because you are using a different service, thats what I did |

Re: How to Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free
The system they use to change call forwarding settings is called ESM. You can try telling them that you are wanting to change the default voicemail number that is set in their ESM system. There should be a specific field for it that they can edit.
