Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I'm glad someone else made the post, because I didn't know how to explain this one.
Mine looks like an oily smudge too, happened after a month of owning it.

If I try to get it replaced, do they replace it with a brand new unit? Or a refurbished one?

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I am debating whether or not to worry about it any more or just live with it.

is this a CDMA issue only or has it been reported with the GSM version as well

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I'm on my second Sprint touch pro. I recieved my first one on May 7th and returend it to Sprint because of a dead pixel 4 days later. I never got the chance to check the build date on it but it didn't have the squeaky back plate issue and never noticed the oil slick issue. Now i'm on my second Touch Pro. Apparently HTC isn't addressing these issues because my second phone has a build date of March 9th 2009 and has the squeaky back plate which i can live with but just noticed today after 11 days of using the second that it has the rectangular oil slick. I was told by sprint that if need be that the next time I would need to replace the phone I would have to pay for a restocking fee even though I have insurance. I think this is total BS as I just paid over $200 for this phone and I feel like i was sold a defective product. If the oil slick issue leads to a non functional touch screen I seriously think this a major issue that HTC needs to own up to.

I don't know if i'm going crazy but I swear in the last couple of days I noticed the screen was less responsive and with the slider out and browsing in landscape I noticed that the on screen keyboard pops up everytime I try and touch a link regardless of where it is on the screen. I'm starting to believe that this is the start of a defective screen. I'm sitting here at my desk at work under florecent lighting and i can clearly see the rectangular outline of the oil smudge. I don't know if anybody else has noticed but i can also make out in the oil smudged area little dots aligned in a matrix. Very dissappointed.....

I think you should stop by the Sprint store again, and try and speak with someone else. I just swapped mine w/o any hassle on Tuesday.

If that gets you nowhere, try Sprint's Executive Customer Service phone number: 703-433-4401

You might also want to take a look at this blog entry from Consumerist.com that has e-mails for most of the Sprint higher-ups:

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

i wrote a post a few days ago that might have been a bit out of line after i read how acted. i had a reason for my short temper that day (had to make weight for fight tommorrow and was having a ***** of a time but made it by a quarter lb today YES...anyway the original idiot talked to was made aware of the enormous raindow on my screen and said that was not covered. i explained it was and lets just say we had a serious difference of opinion and just caught me on the wrong day (im actually a very understaning person normally). ANYWAY after i was told to leave i took the phone to another repair center the lady theretold me within five minutes that another touch pro was on the way. she had to spend an hour convincing sprint that there was no fraud going on (because of previously mentioned *******). point being they HAVE TO replace ur phone for this "rainbow" effectso dont let some moron (and his equally moronic manager)tell u otherwise and ull save urself a few hours on ur day off.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

ok well why don't we all do someting about it and start a lawsuit????? sadly I'm on my last day (unless monday is day 10) before I have to call HTC back for the 3rd time and either pay the $35 triage fee and have the phone sent back unrepaired, or pay $202 and have it fixed, or have them scrap the phone.

IT'D REALLY BE GREAT IF YOU GUYS WOULD POST YOUR REPLIES HERE TOO:

instead of just on this thread. if you read my thread you will be quite alarmed how many people are going through the same thing.

Why won't someone do something about it?!

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

Both of my TouchPro's on my account started doing this rainbow garbage. I did the self swap thing on the web and now I get refurbs with a manuf date in October. ARGHHH...one of them doesn't align just right when the keyboard is closed and the magnet on the stylus port seems to be worn..barely holds it. Wish I could just take both of them apart and swap the screens.

Time to call Sprint and ***** about the piece of crap refurb they sent.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

Well my first and second pro did the same thing and I just got my third pro yesterday. Its a refurb but it looks brand new, the only thing is the speaker on the phone sounds like its busted so I have to use my bluetooth headset in the mean time. I am so sad right now, I really love the pro but I am having more problems with this compared to my mogul.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

i hate to say the same...i love the pro and the ideas and potential behind it but it seems as if HTC has no quality control anymore and theyre just popping new phones out every few months thinking that it will satisfy everyones needs.... i am on my 7th pro since just after xmas i think...and i need a new one alread...yeah im a lil rough on my phone but not hard enough for the to keep having to be replaced once a month
