Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

Just a quick note:

I have the Newton's Rings too. Took my phone to Sprint, and they ordered a replacement...FREE OF CHARGE! No hassle, no begging, no convincing.

I love Sprint!

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

i also have a small "smudge", and my screen is slowly "peeling" off of the phone on the bottom right side. 1 month old phone.

i just filed for an advanced exchange, they say the fee was waived, but we will see in the end.

my first TP was perfect, too bad it was destroyed. now i have to deal with these sub par builds

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I went to the Sprint Store on at the Sprint Campus here in Overland Park today,
and they told me that they would not be able to do anything for me since its a known issue from HTC, and HTC has worked with sprint and told them not to replace the phone, that what is happening is normal.

UGH!!!!!!!!!

Impossible because you can touch the screen and move the spot around. which means the heat is causing the digitizer and lcd to separate. They loose their bonds. Magnets don't effect LCDs

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

Just posting to let you guys know I just activated TP number 6 since November. They are lasting about a month before the rectangle appears. Sprint replaces with zero hassle or questions. Deffinately not magnetic problems, I'm sure it's the heat. I own a busy financial advisory practice and use my phone non stop all day and it gets hot. My wife on the other hand is on her original with zero problems and uses hers very very little.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I'm not doubting heat is a major problem as well. I just know that a magnet can do it also. I've done it to two of them.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I'm glad someone else made the post, because I didn't know how to explain this one.
Mine looks like an oily smudge too, happened after a month of owning it.

If I try to get it replaced, do they replace it with a brand new unit? Or a refurbished one?

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I am debating whether or not to worry about it any more or just live with it.

is this a CDMA issue only or has it been reported with the GSM version as well

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I'm on my second Sprint touch pro. I recieved my first one on May 7th and returend it to Sprint because of a dead pixel 4 days later. I never got the chance to check the build date on it but it didn't have the squeaky back plate issue and never noticed the oil slick issue. Now i'm on my second Touch Pro. Apparently HTC isn't addressing these issues because my second phone has a build date of March 9th 2009 and has the squeaky back plate which i can live with but just noticed today after 11 days of using the second that it has the rectangular oil slick. I was told by sprint that if need be that the next time I would need to replace the phone I would have to pay for a restocking fee even though I have insurance. I think this is total BS as I just paid over $200 for this phone and I feel like i was sold a defective product. If the oil slick issue leads to a non functional touch screen I seriously think this a major issue that HTC needs to own up to.

I don't know if i'm going crazy but I swear in the last couple of days I noticed the screen was less responsive and with the slider out and browsing in landscape I noticed that the on screen keyboard pops up everytime I try and touch a link regardless of where it is on the screen. I'm starting to believe that this is the start of a defective screen. I'm sitting here at my desk at work under florecent lighting and i can clearly see the rectangular outline of the oil smudge. I don't know if anybody else has noticed but i can also make out in the oil smudged area little dots aligned in a matrix. Very dissappointed.....
