Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
Well it must be a defect in the screens, because I definitely have babied my touch pro and treated it like gold. I dont put in in my pocket so I have never sat on it or had blunt force applied to it. The only force Ive had on it was rubbing the screen on my sweat pants or shirt to wipe grease off. If it cant handle being wiped / touched without falling apart, how the hell are we supposed to use it?? I just cancelled my insurance the other day, hopefully this will be covered under the 90 day warranty as I refuse to keep this having this problem, and the raised plastic on the home button.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
So I heard someone say that this is being considered a "Cosmetic Defect" by HTC and not being covered under the 90 day ( or is it 30 day ) warranty?? I think if that is true, it might be time for a little wake up call called "Class Action Lawsuit". Nothing gets a company moving better, and taking care of defects, better then a good old fashioned Class Action Suit. Im sure there is a lawyer somewhere willing to pick it up for a portion of the settlement. I for one wont tolerate paying this much for a touch screen phone that has a defect in the touch screen. My PPC6700 made it 2 years with no overheating issues, no touch screen issues, and actually ran a little better ( altho in the touch pros defense, when I disable touch flo 3d, the phone runs quite fast. ).

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
I have a Verizon version of the phone and experienced this yesterday. It started as a spot inside the protective screen cover and in a day moved to the center of the phone. Now the touchscreen has failed. Verizon opted to replace it but if they feel it is from abuse they want to charge full price for the phone! This phone is 1 1/2 months old and looks like it came out of the box. I am starting to think the TouchPro is a piece of crap!

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
It's from the plastic touching the screen, I'm not sure if I should get mine replaced, It's not a big deal to me IMO.
I JUST got my new TP. Manufacture's date of 2/5/09. |

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
where can you get the build date?? Anyway, It is quite disturbing to me to have an oily spot on a beautiful VGA screen, as well as one that distorts text and eventually causes the touch screen to fail. That to me is a pretty major problem.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
Ahh.... Jan 29 09 for me.... Anyway, I love the device despite all the gripes people have, I will gladly even accept some stupid chipped chrome. However, I will not accept a touch screen phone with a defective touch screen... Have to draw the line somewhere. I would think that was the one place the phone was meant to excel.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle
It’s caused by moisture. I have confirmed this on three different sprint touch pros. I noticed it after I had it in my pocket for a long period of time while working. Its basically sweat/ moisture that gets stuck between the screen and the touch sensor. This never happend with my Mogul. I no longer put the phone in my pocket under any circumstances. FYI this is my 8th touch pro from sprint. Wish this thing was built better and HTC spent more time testing the device before release. Still the best WM phone available on sprint.
