Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

Is the sprint navigation feature available when plugged in? What about texting, does that show up on-screen?

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

Anyone using Slingbox with this? Whenever I plug in my adapter (blue wire snipped HTC dongle) the video switches to landscape (as it should) but I can find no way to get the TP to display the virtual remote. The remote is only accessible from portrait mode. Usually tapping the screen switches the orientation but not when the dongle is plugged in.

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

When the slingbox goes to landscape mode just put ur finger on the bottom and slide up and it will pop up the remote. Got this from one of the other threads when I had the same issue.

I use Sling Mobile with the video out in my truck every day (it displays on my 7" Eclipse NAV screen)

I can get the remote just fine in landscape.

I then made a small hole on the side of the casing and ran the wires out. I had to use superglue to put the top of the case back on as it wouldn't stay on without it.

If I plug in a headset and have the two wires I ran out connected, it sees the headset. If they are not connected, no headset is seen.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 4 pin jack to plug in, but I'll get one in the next day or so. I might add on a switch at some point as well.

NOTE: If you plan on cutting the wire and want to add some wire to it, I would suggest you remove the yellowish tape around the wire bundle coming in to the box, so you have more of the blue wire exposed to work with. Just make sure you use something to insulate it after removing it.

EDIT: I had a switch laying around that I connected and it worked at toggling the headphone detection on/off. It's a large switch that I won't be using for this, but it was more for testing.

EDIT2: I still don't have a video cable, but I tried plugging in a 2.5mm 4 pole headset/w mic just to see if I would get the video icon. I did not, but I think it might be due to the ROM I am using. I am using Juggalo's and I wonder if he didn't put the video output drivers in.

EDIT3: Looks like the Juggalo ROM doesn't have the TV software. If you have a ROM missing it, install the attached file.

Below is a picture of a 4 pole 3.5mm cable for anyone interested.

So if I read this correctly, does this mean that a standard camcorder cable should work, but the plugs will need to be rearranged?

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

So I read a few posts with people complaining about image quality. Does anyone have any complains about this?

I'm picking up a spare media adapter thingy from sprint today (along with a spare battery cover to dye) and I'm going to pick up some ipod video cables for 10 bucks. The only reason I'm going the diy route is because expansys is telling me their cables won't be in until jan 5th! If the quality is crappier than the AC T110's, then I won't cancel my order, but if it's exactly the same, then I will.

So what does everyone think of their video quality?

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

Ok so I did this and it worked just as everyone said. I loaded up an mp4 in windows media player and its a very fuzzy image.

So is this the same as the AC T110 expansys sells? Is this the same quality or what? Please, someone chime in here...

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

I got a 15 dollar Dynex A/V cable last night from Best-Buy and sat down when I got home to start tearing apart the htc adapter ...

The case of the adapter had really tight seams and although I could have gone and gotten out my plastic picks I decided to try something else just to test things before I opened the adapter ...

I took a razor blade and some packing tape and cut a thin piece of tape (about 1/16" or 3/32") that gradually widened towards one end (to hold the tape easier) ...

Then I set the tape in place over pin 4 and pressed it down with a bobby pin ...

I folded the tape back over the outside of the plug and cut the excess off ... then slowly plugged the adapter into the TP ....

Well it worked like a dream ... I had only planned on leaving it there temporarily but I have un-plugged and plugged the adapter in over 20 times now and the tape hasn't moved so its stayin ...

This ghetto little mod took all of 3 minutes and is completely reversible in less time ...

If anyone is interested I'll repeat the process and take pictures ...
