Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
Will this work as a 4 prong 3.5mm video cable: http://www.meritline.com/ipod-video-signal-cable2.html
seems pretty cheap! |

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
I have a 2.5 video out cable from an old RCA Lyra Video player(Like a zune)
Can I do this and plug it into the smaller port on the htc adaptor? Will it still allow me to do this with a 2.5, or must it be a 3.5? |

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
Yes, that's why I'm proposing the test I did. If it registers as headphones, then you'll still get audio out of the red and white plugs of the camcorder cable.
If you're getting audio out in that way - that means you didn't break the pin as far down as necessary. Provided you didn't break any adjacent pins. I had that happen to me the first time I tried it with this adapter. I looked closely at the jack in bright light - and saw that the pin needed breaking further down. So I dragged a clothespin deeper down to do so. I didn't have to do anything else besides break that pin. I've made 2 tv out cables, though the second one was made with a different extusb adapter, twining the wires together. But on the extusb end - all I had to do was break that one pin - I didn't need to ground anything else. That's what most others have done as well. |

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
The 2.5 lyra video cable didn't work very well... It seemed to need to be pushed a bit to the side for it to register the connection. Also, the red/yellow swap was still needed on the connection to the TV just like the camcorder video cables others have posted here.
