Re: Sprint sent me another phone, now what?

Why even present this question to the boards when you obivously know what should be done?

1) You keep the phone and do nothing. Sprint never finds out and you are in the clear. Unless Spint tags the phone as lost and when you or someone else tries to activate the phone they can't and won't becasue is listed as lost and stolen.

2) They catch their mistake 30 days later and they apply the full retail value of the phone to your account. Which they can legaly do by the way.

3) You sell it on ebay or where ever...apply #1 and #2. In addition they come after you for fraud and the police show up and you have a really bad day.

Either way, bottom line what it really boils down to is fraud. You ask the question "Just wondering why sprint is still loosing so much money when people are so honest"... well let just addres that shall we?

Becasue it is schmucks like you that try to screw over a company. One that is obviously trying to turn itself around. One that provides you those services that you so dearly love or you would not be using Sprint as your carrier. One that you just bought a really cool phone that allows you to use those services. Now lets say that everyone that di this on a consistant basis.... yea I think yoju just answer you own question there buddy..... you know what you should do and there should be no reason why you should sceond guess yourself.

Do what you want, but if I were you, I would not even bring up something like this in a public forum... things could go wrong real quick and end in a result that you did not expect.

Re: Sprint sent me another phone, now what?

Man, I's not expecting that huge of a flame fest.
I's posting to ask if there's a way to profit from a mistake from Sprint, it's not the right thing to do, but hell, Sprint is stealing from us by making us pay for tethering when they are not providing anything extra. And there are registry hack posted here to defeat that, is that stealing?

I never used Sprint before, so I cannot comment on their services as a whole, but so far it hasn't been all that great. I switched over from AT&T so I port my number over. They did NOT assign me a temp number, so I's out of a phone for a whole week while the porting is In Progress. I've called up AT&T, and they've closed my account the same day I sign up, I don't even know what the hold up is. This freaking day and age, no cell phone service for a week? I'm not even going to try and figure out how much money it's cost me for not having a phone. They did nothing to compensate me, all they've said is that's how long it is going to take to port a number, and they don't know why they couldn't assign me a temp number. And really, I just can't get mad at those customer support guys, I know it's not their fault and there's just nothing they could do and yelling at them is just gonna kill my brain cells.

So now, they send me another phone, to do the right thing, I've to call them up and if they want me to send it back, I've to print a return label or whatever the arrangement is, drive to the post office/UPS store, queue up wasting my time to fix a problem they create. I'd consider that stealing from me.

Really? You weren't expecting that? Then you really obviously aren't that observant or you would have known.

and once again goes back to my point a page ago that there are more "schmucks" (a rude comment anyways to the OP) that do other stupid crap to rip Sprint off than the VERY few double orders they mail out. Be more worried about the people who lie and find anything to call and complain for discounts and freebies and discounted/free phones. There are WAY more of those people than there are this thread's kind of story costing Sprint MUCH more money. OP isnt the problem, a lot of people who post here and about him ARE.

Being "wrong" is an issue of morality one has to live with themselves. As above, the issues regard it affecting you or me or bob in this thread personally due to company retaliation to customers as a whole are as i stated above- the much much larger issues with people than this one guy's situation. And id still disagree because there are more posts of "oh ill just call in and complain about x or y to get swapped up a phone model" (6700->6800/vogue->diamond/mogul, cough probably half the people in these forums) than people like this perosn who was shipped 2 phones. He is not the problem and there are still a lot of hyporticital people here who need the moral less not to call in fake insurance claims because they scuffed their phone or make up issues with it to get a swap. That happens every day here. In the end it costs Sprint MORE money because people do it on a regular basis than the very very very few people who have the OP's dilema. Skew or try to justify it however you wish, but in the end its still costing sprint money, and probably 1000x more money than this OP is.

Agreed.. there are a lot more people out there that complain to retentions and other resources within Sprint just to get freebies and discounted phones. However, the OP presented a question that he/she knew was not the right thing to do. It did stirke me wrong and I did go off. But I will not apologise for it. But I will apologise to the OP for the name calling, that WAS uncalled for. But even with the people like you describe and the OP, it all does add up and no matter how you do the math it still hurts Sprint as a whole.

Now I am not one to argue on the interent. It is pointless, but when I see things like this and the other stuff that people "brag" about how good of a "deal" they got from Sprint because they complained long enough knowing it is not right, it does not set right with me.

As you stated it is a matter of morals. And sooner or later doing thing like this will all come back to bite you in the end.

Nuff said...

That doesn't make either situation more right or more wrong. They're both wrong. You're probably the same people that'd keep the change from a 20 when you know you gave a 10. Its a mistake and your responsibility as a decent human being to correct it.

oh dont get me wrong i even said he should return it, my point was there are a LOT of hypocrites in here trying to give a "what's right" moral lesson to the OP who have no business doing so

I guess it is pretty easy to say one thing and do another. I'd probably be pretty tempted to keep it though with my fascination with shiny things and all
