Re: Is there such a thing as a perfect Touch Pro?

I suffer from no such problems besides the ****ty battery. I got my phone from the first wave from Sprint directly. Neither does the second one I got too, both work fine...besides the ****ty battery. These greedy companies gotta stop taxing people with these **** batteries and just release what they truly have that can last for a long time, just look at Sony's batteries for their products.

True, but to me, the title is really misleading.

Re: Is there such a thing as a perfect Touch Pro?

So is the phone heat "issue" a normal thing for this device? Where I live (in my house, mostly), I usually get 1-2 bars and my phone is always in 1x mode when I am in a voice call. The phone gets rather warm to the "touch" (pun sort of intended, lol) right around the camera area, where I'm sure all the electronics and radios are.

I'm thinking this is just because the signal is too weak and the phone is trying to boost it. My old Samsung SPH-a640 had the same heating problem, where it felt like the battery would get really warm after an extended call.

The phone should not do that, regardless of signal...

I tend to believe this as well. Isn't it convenient that the touch pro is unavailable on sprint.com when best buy has their $199 sale? Seems like they purposely want to push as many of these early phones on Best Buy.

My major problem (outside the battery life and phone warming) was the earpiece volume. I literally could barely hear out of the device. It was ridiculously low. Someone here posted a file to load on the phone to increase the volume. That helped but it was still unacceptable.

Maybe I lucked out, but I did one hard reset and then a 2nd hard reset (when my phone froze while chargng), and the earpiece volume is now good. I think it might be perfect now if I install that custom patch, but I'm afraid to mess with it. I wish it was slightly louder but at least I can hear out of the earpiece (was OK in a crowded best buy today) and the quality is great.

As far as the speaker quality, I'm coming from a flip phone so I think I would find just about anything pretty damn remarkable! haha. the speaker is acceptable for me.

That's dumb.

I got my TP from Best Buy & in the top right Corner is says "Sprint" - not BestBuy. Both Sprint, and HTC would have to be pretty foolish to give BestBuy sub-par handsets. Not to mention they are going to come back no matter where they are sold from. Warranty period, then TEP?

If you heard that rumor, perhaps it's disinfo being put out by Sprint or unscrupulous employees who would rather keep the sales commission in house.

B stock? Be serious.

It isn't that bad, you will never get one that is perfect, and if you are really upset about it go back to your touch.

Returning these phones over and over only to get phone after phone with the same (MINOR) issues will only get sprint to think twice about carrying them. Quit whining, we have a great device, enjoy it.
I think you are wrong.

The super geeks that make up this message board are not representative of the average user. You can't expect an average user to do registry hacks (see, I don't even know what I'm talking about) in order to bring battery life to an acceptable level or to bring the earpiece & speaker volumes to a good level. There's certain quality issues that this phone is lacking out of the box. And hearing other people look past problems and say everything is "just fine" just makes others more paranoid about their phones.

I'm on Week 1 of this phone. I'm trying to be patient but.........

1) Phone froze twice. Once during charging. Once just texting and sliding out the keyboard.
2) Earpiece volume was horrendous out of the box. I literally could not hear the other person and had to use speakerphone all the time.
3) I need more time with this one, but my phone sometimes gets incredibly hot during longer calls. It's fine sometimes and other times it gets warm to hot. Same goes for charging. I often get a warm phone from charging.
4) Battery life is bad. I went from 4 bars to 1 bar warnings to charge my phone after my last call that only went 22 minutes.... 22 MINUTES!!! My phone was incredibly warm as well after that call.

There's just waaaaay too many problems one week into my usage.

I don't use IM. I don't use navigation. I just mainly text and use the phone and browse occasionally.

But I'm being patient. Some people have written that the battery gets better over time. I'll see. I have 3 more weeks. If not, by 30 days, I'll see if I'll be able to get by with the battery deficiency and just "live with it."

It's a very, very cool phone. But I don't trust it one bit to last me through my 2 year contract without problems. Note, I have NEVER returned a phone so it takes a lot to get me to this point. At the very least, I'll probably opt into the insurance program from best buy.

Just for comparison, it could charge my PSP fully twice before the unit itself requires recharging. Small device, nice life, and it can do much more than charging just your phone. I used mine yesterday, went from 10% to 100% in about an hour.

I find this hilarious. So to get through a day of normal usage, I have to not only fully charge my Touch Pro but I have to charge a Power Monkey too? And make sure the power monkey is an arm-length away when needed?

Anyways, that does look like a cool device.
