Re: Update: Hard-reset your Pro when you get it (conspiracy?)

I'm debating if I should hard reset or not. I can get 30-36 hours of medium/light use off a charge, and ym volume is okay (could be better, but could be worse).

maybe its all that work that critical and crew did that needed a hard reset after to finalize some of them?

That's some pretty good battery life. All I can say, is if you are experiencing any weird quirks/problems, then I would definitely hard-reset as my first solution. If you are running fine, then no bother. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Nope. From what I understood, Critical and his co-workers had updated the ACTUAL ROM, and then re-flashed all the phones.

The fact that they had been re-flashed is the main reason I would say to hard-reset, at least once, but a few times just to make sure. People in the custom ROM arena will tell you that it's pretty normal/expected to hard-reset a few times after loading a new ROM.

Sometimes things in the ROM will be fixed, and no one really knows why. Things like dialer issues, roaming, data, keyboard, LED notifications, sounds, heat, battery life, bluetooth, reliability/crashing... ETC ETC... these things CAN be fixed, a lot of the time, by hard-resetting after loading a new ROM.

So, perhaps some people got lucky, and their ROM copied/installed fine, but I still strongly suggest hard-resetting, especially if you JUST got it and have not done much customization.

No, what I am saying is that resetting it, in general, just helps fix the "ghost in the machine," if you will.

Whatever fixes that Critical put on the phones were as "finalized" as they could be when you picked it up from the store.

Just to clarify

Re: Update: Hard-reset your Pro when you get it (conspiracy?)

definitely bizarre, but after reading some of these posts i gave mine a hard-reset (i got from BB and i watched it go through the whole initial setup when she took it out of the box). It appears to have fixed my one issue i had where when i ended a call, the keypad would automatically be up and the screen alignment would be messed up (hard to explain, but it was a weird glitch). It could also be in my heard but i think it improved my earpiece clarity.

thanks for the tip, especially before i had installed too much stuff on it
