Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?
this phone is awesome, and baring some terrible flaw that i haven't found yet. this phone is a keeper. i haven't noticed anything yet that isn't GREAT about this phone. the only thing i wish worked, that doesn't, is skyfire. but that will happen over time for sure. ALSO, why would you buy a touch pro if what you really wanted is the HD? the HD doesnt have a keyboard at all, so if you want a comparable phone, just get the diamond if you cant wait until the HD is released.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?
I'll go out on a limb and say that this is BY FAR the best WM device that's ever come out!
Granted, WM itself is not for the novice user, and the first thing I did was turn off TF3D when I brought er home, but being a technology business owner, this is EXACTLY what I've been waiting on for years now, and after a full weekend of playing with it, am not disappointed one bit! |

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?
My boss is returning his today, but his expectations where far too high I'm sure. He asked me if I wanted the phone, but after playing with his & another one at Best Buy I have no desire whatever to own one.
He was using a Titan that was highly customized (by me) that he was very happy with. He was expecting the TP to be a drastic improvement in every way from that setup & it certainly is not that. To get it to run well as a business device, I showed him how to disable the quirky/silly/laggy TF bloatware but that kind of defeats the purpose of the new device. He really missed the hardware buttons etc & no customization etc will fix that (AE Button Plus is not really an option for someone like him). I think a lot of it comes down to what you actually use a phone for. To some people the WM phones are more of a toy than a serious business tool (& there's nothing wrong with that). Those users will absolutely love the TP. Other people who consider it a phone first & the other stuff as just nice additional options should probably look elsewhere. ~John |

I'm returning mine. Really bummed because I got the great deal at BB ($239 and a $75 credit from Sprint on my account for renewing). I'm coming from a Palm 700wx, and while I agree that the Treo is much older hardware, it is so much more useful for me. The exposed keyboard (I am a BlackBerry user as well so no problem with small keys) plus the hard buttons makes it so much more functional.
A few more early observations: 1) the touch pro gets annoyingly warm after some use 2) once I turned it off with the battery around 50% and came back to it after a few hours and the battery had run dry 3) I too noticed that constant buzzing feedback coming from the speaker 4) the screen is too "slick", meaning that with the stylus I need to press close to a 90 degree angle else it slips 5) screen presses require more pressure to register than other smartphones 6) short stylus is lame compared to a full size metal one 7) d-pad is poorly designed, meaning where you press needs to be approximate (since there are no hard buttons on the dpad), leading to occasional unresponsive behavior my two biggest uses are Slingplayer and Opera Mini, and both perform better on the Treo. I regularly get 29fps with the albeit smaller screen on the Treo but can't achieve similar performance with the same settings on the Touch Pro. Opera Mini + Esmertec JBED shows more on the screen (after zooming in of course) than the Treo but it is far less usable without dedicated scroll keys (on the Treo I use the numerics to scroll up/down/left/right). So I will probably play with it for a few more days then back to BB it goes. I'm not thrilled going back to the Treo but I guess I will wait some more. I always felt the 800w is not much of an upgrade and I guess the Touch Pro form factor is not for me either. |

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?
got two of em for my parents
my mom is comming from a 700w and my dad from some cheap POS they both love it with a passion! aleady transferred their service over from vzw + they got a sick deal on the phones and get 26% off their plan..so they're pretty hooked up and personally, i think its a great phone for business! the KB rocks, the phone is fast even w/TF and the app to take pics of biz cards and import them into contacts is super usefull plus keep in mind, as the communits devlops sw for the phone..it'll only get better

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?
LOL, boy will they be sorry (unless good service is secondary to the "coolness" of the phone.........)
The best move I ever made was dumping Sprint (which I had for free) & hooking up with vz (which I don't get for free) ~John |
