Thumbs down Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I'm returning mine. Really bummed because I got the great deal at BB ($239 and a $75 credit from Sprint on my account for renewing). I'm coming from a Palm 700wx, and while I agree that the Treo is much older hardware, it is so much more useful for me. The exposed keyboard (I am a BlackBerry user as well so no problem with small keys) plus the hard buttons makes it so much more functional.

A few more early observations:
1) the touch pro gets annoyingly warm after some use
2) once I turned it off with the battery around 50% and came back to it after a few hours and the battery had run dry
3) I too noticed that constant buzzing feedback coming from the speaker
4) the screen is too "slick", meaning that with the stylus I need to press close to a 90 degree angle else it slips
5) screen presses require more pressure to register than other smartphones
6) short stylus is lame compared to a full size metal one
7) d-pad is poorly designed, meaning where you press needs to be approximate (since there are no hard buttons on the dpad), leading to occasional unresponsive behavior

my two biggest uses are Slingplayer and Opera Mini, and both perform better on the Treo. I regularly get 29fps with the albeit smaller screen on the Treo but can't achieve similar performance with the same settings on the Touch Pro.

Opera Mini + Esmertec JBED shows more on the screen (after zooming in of course) than the Treo but it is far less usable without dedicated scroll keys (on the Treo I use the numerics to scroll up/down/left/right).

So I will probably play with it for a few more days then back to BB it goes. I'm not thrilled going back to the Treo but I guess I will wait some more. I always felt the 800w is not much of an upgrade and I guess the Touch Pro form factor is not for me either.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

got two of em for my parents
my mom is comming from a 700w
and my dad from some cheap POS
they both love it with a passion! aleady transferred their service over from vzw
+ they got a sick deal on the phones and get 26% off their plan..so they're pretty hooked up

and personally, i think its a great phone for business!
the KB rocks, the phone is fast even w/TF and the app to take pics of biz cards and import them into contacts is super usefull

plus keep in mind, as the communits devlops sw for the phone..it'll only get better

LOL, boy will they be sorry (unless good service is secondary to the "coolness" of the phone.........)

The best move I ever made was dumping Sprint (which I had for free) & hooking up with vz (which I don't get for free)

umm good luck with that. high prices, less features, crippled phones, NO thanks verizon!

Best move I ever made was leaving that joke of a wireless provider and moving to Sprint. with free roaming you get the best of both worlds. Why would anyone want to move from free to paid unless they're on crack .....lol

That's all true (& believe me I'm no fanboy for verizon), but unfortunately they can get away with it because their service is so much better than Sprint that it isn't even worth arguing over.

It is no accident that Sprint is on the verge of bankruptcy, is loosing thousands of customers a year & is always dead last by a substantial margin in every customer satisfaction survey ever published.

Nothing but awesome CS experience for me. Another Happy Sprint customer. Was glad when I dropped VZ like a rock 6 months ago. No way. No how. No VZ.

I'm came over from VZW to Sprint and I'm not sorry so watch the generalities there. Just because you have issues with Sprint doesn't mean everyone will. I was paying $85 per month with a 20% corporate discount with VZW for LESS than what I get now with Sprint for $35 per month. Service is about the same for me...VERY HAPPY with Sprint.

Also, VERY happy with my Touch Pro so far. I'm coming over from the Touch and that was my favorite Windows Mobile phone...now the Touch Pro is. I personally love the TF3D. I've noticed some issues with it...such as the phone overall slowing down when playing music but I can live with it. I'm sure it will only get better!

Sorry John your wrong.
they're very happy with their service, it IS better than verizon, plus they got a free airwave for 2yrs so they get full service at home..lets see its cheaper, phones arent crippled, internet is faster. I just fail to see your point.

you may want to check your sources
and vzw can deffinetly suck my balls
been there done that, sprint is much better
in the last two years iv prolly turned 40+ ppl over to sprint, personally from vzw

By the way, I could still have free Sprint service, but in this case you most definitely get what you pay for...........

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I'm another happy Sprint customer... 1 year ago, I was right with you John.

This year, Sprint has really pulled a 180... no issues, no sneaky billing fees, and awesome customer service.

I live in an area with great sprint coverage, so that's not an issue

Personally, I'd try Sprint out again if I were you John... you can get it for free
