Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

as of right now, i'm pretty sure that i'll be returning the phone.

i need the hard buttons that are on the mogul (text, IE, comm manager, notes, etc). touchflo is driving me nuts. i'm going to try and keep this for as long of the 30-day period as i can; hopefully i and others on here can figure out how to unlock the extrom and basically gut all the software in the time frame. i'm definitely going to miss the gorgeous screen, and how voice command works perfectly with the TP. right now i'm trying to take all of the VC files from the TP build (1.6.19965) and transfer them to my mogul (i'm running 1.6.19581 on there).

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I returned (well exchanged) my phone already. Deemed defecting, all the buttons were acting as the "Home" button. Talk, end talk, back and enter key all weren't working.

Exchanged out one, 100% better.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

what i dont understand to those of u who are having issues witn your pro is this: why get the pro when it first comes out anyways? everyone knows that there is always going to be something wrong with the first wave of something that comes out. xbox 360s, ps3s, cell phones, etc. i was one who bought the touch diamond when it came out because of the previous phone issues i had and the fact that sprint gavd me a great deal on it. i didnt know it had JUST came out! but like alot of other people, i had alot of issues with the sound and d-pad and a month later returned it. got my replacement last week amd works perfect! longer battery, gets warm after hours of use (not hot), and the d-pad is very smooth and responsive to its INTENDED commands. i love the pro and want to get it, but im going to hold out a few months so they can take notice of the kinks and work them out and then get it. yes, the registry hacks are cool, but u shouldnt have to use them to fix things that should ALREADY be working out of the box, they should be more for adding and enhancing. to those who got flawless pros, congrats! but to those who didnt, thats the price u pay when u rush. first wave releases are always the riskiest buys.

i think a lot of us got it ASAP because the 20% off at bestbuy expires friday (note that you can also get triple rewardzone points; i just found that out after i bought the phone - google it). i guarantee that if one was to buy this phone from sprint a year from today it will cost more than what i paid yesterday - which generally never happens with any sort of electronics. it's under warranty for a year, so swapping out due to a defect is relatively simple.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

This may not sit right with some people here, but.... every device has it's quarks when it comes out. I have not had a phone with any carrier, PDA or not, that did not have issues at launch. It's the nature of the beast. However, HTC has a good track record of getting fixes out in a rather quick manner. or at least in my experience.

With that said, problems or not, things are going to be found that you may or may not like. But keep this in mind, everyone here was just salavating over this device like no tomorrow. You are in that elite group called the "early adopter". And with that you get the blunt force of all the issues that were not found in testing. And sometimes those issues are not found until devices are released to the general public.

No I don't have one...yet. But I will as soon as it is released through telesales. And when I do, I know there are going to be tings that I find that I do not like. But I look at things like this like they were a new car that i could not live without. It may not be all that it is cracked up to be after the "new" wears off. It may not drive like my old car, BUT after a few days with it, driving it around, you get use to it. If I have aproblem with it I put in in the shop. It gets fixed and I move on.

Bottom line, it's new. Give it the full 30 days, and if after that you still don't like it, go get a refund or exchange it out for something different.

Just my .02

I'm keeping since I am moving from an a920. But, I am having issues with mine. Keyboard seems dead. I will stick with it and work out the issues.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

This is actually my first WinMo phone. I came from an EnV on verizon. At first I was very frustrated with how slow and laggy things were....but I was try to do a lot at once. Once you get the hang of winmo and close out apps from memory etc, its a lot smoother. I decided to disable TF3D...big speed difference. A lot less processor power was being used. Im trying out a few shells right now to see what I like.

Im gonna keep it, but it does take some getting used to from someone coming from a "regular" phone. Its basically a small computer and it needs to be treated like one.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I am really enjoying this phone so far, I love the Opera Mobile, and living in a non-EVDO area the WIFI is a wonderful addition. Its the one thing i missed going from the Mogul to the Touch. Because I am an early adopter, and picked one up right after it was released I do not mind the lagging, I know it will be fixed in time.
