Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!
Just testing my phone, it's stock, haven't changed anything that would influence it. I was trying to prove that the extreme heat/power drain issues are not on all phones, so the minority of people complaining should, in my opinion, get Sprint to swap them to a new phone.

"It's been 15 minutes, phone is still cool. Took it off the charger to see if it affected power usage, and power usage did drop some, so I'm not sure on that one. Reconnected charger now and it doesn't want ot start charging again (even though the phone is still only slightly warm, not hot at all)." This is exactly what we are experiencing, my phone doesn't get hot or anything, it just gets warm and then the charger doesn't charge anymore... |

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!
However over the hour, my phone ended up with a net increase in charge level, even if charging did cut out at times. My experience in that test doesn't line up. Though I started more to check the heat, because the people saying the phone was 'so hot it was uncomfortable' or it 'burnt them' didn't sound like they had good devices or something.
Personally, 1 hour straight connected to a phone call is more than I'll ever use out of the phone, so I personally don't care much, my device is actually a phone last so... |

I've done this on 2 Touch Pro's now (original and replacement), and can very consistently reproduce the overheat/charging disable problem:
1. Start with no noticeable heat. 2. Lay flat on back (on desk). 3. Plug phone in (OEM AC outlet USB charger). 4. Turn Bluetooth on. 5. Start call (I call another cell at night, so can just leave them both connected for the test). 6. Turn speaker on. 7. 30-45 minutes in, and the phone is no longer charging. To add insult to injury, the phone still registers the USB connection (I have diff brightness set for external power, and I can tell by the dimming when unplugging the cable), but just does not charge. Phone will just run down the battery at this point. When I've taken it in the middle of the drain, and placed it on an ice pack, it flips to "charging" ~15 seconds later.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!
Has anyone mentioned that the phone is not made to be used while charging?
If you want to do this then you have to keep the phone cool. there is nothing wrong and no need for a petition. Using the above quote I can see that the phone is plugged in while using bluetooth and cell radio + speakerphone? Of course it is going to generate too much heat and stop charging. that is what it is SUPPOSED to do. |
